Built in 1979 to serve West Coast residents and students from nearby National University of Singapore, Ayer Rajah Food Centre at 503 West Coast Drive has evolved into one of Singapore's most beloved neighbourhood hawker centres. With approximately 80 food stalls, this government-built facility represents the golden era of hawker culture, where generations of families have honed their craft and passed down recipes. Roughly half the stalls serve these cuisines, with standout offerings including Tokyo Seafood BBQ's barbecue stingray, rumoured to be among Singapore's best. N.M Abdul Rahim draws crowds with its scarlet red mee goreng, while Indian rojak specialists like Abdhus Salam Rojak and Habib's Rojak maintain loyal followings. The food centre underwent renovations and reopened on 1 August 2022 with a bright green exterior that made it instantly recognisable. Located near Clementi MRT station on the East-West Line, visitors can take bus 78 or 285 and alight at Block 513 for easy access.
