Halal Food in Bishan MRT
Bishan MRT Station (NS17/CC15) is one of Singapore historic interchange stations, with the North South Line platform opening on 7 November 1987 as one of the first five stations in the entire MRT network. Originally announced as Kampong San Teng, then renamed San Teng, the station received its current name Bishan on 21 September 1984 to reflect the new public housing estate developing around the site. The Circle Line platform opened on 28 May 2009, transforming it into a major interchange. Located along Bishan Road in the town centre, the station enjoys prime connectivity with direct access to Junction 8 shopping centre, Bishan Bus Interchange, and Bishan Stadium. A unique architectural feature includes Exit E, an underground passage linking the NSL Southbound Platform B directly to Junction 8 basement, operating daily from 7:30 am to 11:00 pm. The station offers five exits in total, with four barrier-free exits (A, B, C, D) at ground level ensuring accessibility for all commuters. Adding cultural value, the station displays Move! by artist Soh Ee Shaun as part of the Art-in-Transit programme. This compelling installation comprises three glass-panel murals titled The Family, The Scientist, and The Heartland, each crafted from 16 film-cast glass panels celebrating community life. The station underwent significant structural modifications to accommodate the Circle Line, with the original NSL island platform split into two side platforms to handle increased passenger capacity from this busy interchange serving the Bishan residential and commercial precinct.
