Halal Food in Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay stands as one of Singapore's most iconic riverside destinations, named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Governor of the Straits Settlements from 1824 to 1902. Located at 3 River Valley Road along the historic Singapore River, this area served as a bustling cargo dock from the early 1800s, where barge lighters transported goods to warehouses and commercial houses, with dozens of bumboats jostling for mooring space during its heyday. After the government relocated cargo services and cleaned up the Singapore River between 1977 and 1987, Clarke Quay underwent remarkable transformation. The Clarke Quay Festival Village officially opened in December 1993 as the largest conservation project for the Singapore River, followed by a major redesign by British firm Alsop Architects in 2003. Today, five blocks of restored warehouses house numerous restaurants and nightclubs, including the renowned Zouk which relocated here in 2016. Moored Chinese junks have been refurbished into floating pubs, creating a vibrant entertainment district that blends heritage with contemporary nightlife along the picturesque riverfront.
