Halal Food in DRAGON V NANYANG CAFE
Standing along Changi Road at number 359, this building is part of one of Singapore's most historic arterial routes, established during the colonial era as a direct link between the town centre and the eastern coastal villages. Changi Road's history stretches back to the 1840s when country roads began connecting the town to various corners of the island. The name "Changi" derives from a plant that was abundant in the area, replacing the earlier Malay name Tanjong Rusa, meaning "Deer Cape." The road witnessed significant activity during World War II as part of the route to Changi Prison, which became a notorious Japanese prisoner-of-war camp. Famous for its coconut plantations in the 1800s, the area retains rows of coconut trees along the coastline. Today, Changi Road serves as an important one-way arterial carrying traffic from east to west, connecting New Upper Changi Road with Geylang Road while maintaining its character as a neighbourhood lined with shophouses and local businesses.
