Halal Food in Lau Pa Sat Festival Market (Catering)
Lau Pa Sat Festival Market is Singapore only hawker centre housed in a national monument, making it one of the most historically significant food destinations on the island. Located at 18 Raffles Quay in the Downtown Core, Lau Pa Sat translates to "Old Market" and represents a stunning piece of Victorian architecture dating back to 1824. The market was first built as a fish market on the waterfront, rebuilt in 1838, then relocated and reconstructed at its present location in 1894. It remains one of the oldest Victorian structures in Southeast Asia and one of the first buildings constructed with pre-fabricated cast iron in Asia. Gazetted as a national monument in June 1973, the building underwent reconstruction in the late 1980s after MRT construction and reopened after a nine-month, four million dollar renovation in June 2014. Today, this massive hawker centre houses over 70 stalls and around 2,500 seats, serving a variety of local cuisine throughout the day. At night, the west end transforms into Satay Street with 19 stalls serving satay and seafood, operating weekdays from 7pm to 3am and weekends from 3pm to 3am. The refurbished centre features improved traffic flow, increased seating capacity, industrial ceiling fans for better ventilation, and a stage for live performances. For catering inquiries, Lau Pa Sat offers services for events, maintaining its role as both a daily dining destination and special occasion venue in Singapore financial district.
