Halal Food in Queenstown MRT Station

Queenstown MRT Station (EW19) is an elevated station on the East West Line, positioned along Commonwealth Avenue between Commonwealth and Redhill stations. The station has an interesting historical footnote: in March 1987, the MRTC announced that Queenstown and Commonwealth stations would swap names, as Queenstown station is actually closer to areas bearing the Commonwealth name and vice versa. Despite this geographical quirk, the station commenced operations under the Queenstown name on 12 March 1988 alongside the entire MRT system launch. Located at 301 Commonwealth Avenue, the station serves the surrounding Queenstown neighbourhood through its elevated structure, providing access to community landmarks including Queenstown Primary School and Princess House, along with several nearby churches. The station offers wheelchair accessibility and bicycle parking facilities, ensuring inclusive access for all commuters in this mature residential estate. Operating daily from 5:47 am to 12:10 am with train frequencies of 2 to 5 minutes, Queenstown station underwent significant upgrades completed in August 2015, which included new pedestrian bridges and additional exits to improve connectivity and passenger flow. Half-height platform screen doors were installed and became operational in August 2011, enhancing passenger safety and climate control within the station. These improvements have strengthened Queenstown station role as a reliable transport link for residents commuting to work, school, and leisure destinations across Singapore.
