Halal Food in Sembawang MRT Station
Sembawang MRT Station (NS11) is an elevated station on the North South Line, located along Sembawang Road near Sun Plaza shopping centre and Sembawang Bus Interchange. Opening on 10 February 1996 as part of the Woodlands Extension, the station was constructed under a S33.1 million contract awarded in December 1992 to a joint venture between Hyundai Engineering and Koon Construction and Transport Co, which also delivered Marsiling, Admiralty and Woodlands stations along with 8.7 kilometres of track work. The station showcases the distinctive kampung-style roof architecture characteristic of the Woodlands Extension stations, creating a cohesive architectural identity for the northern corridor whilst reflecting Singapore cultural heritage. A notable feature is the provision of over 350 bicycle stands, the highest among all Woodlands Extension stations, specifically designed to accommodate the substantial number of Sembawang Shipyard workers who cycle to the station for their daily commute. Operating under SMRT Trains management, Sembawang station is positioned between Admiralty and Canberra stations on the North South Line. Safety enhancements were implemented in 2012 when half-height platform screen doors were installed as part of the Land Transport Authority programme to improve passenger safety across the MRT network. The station continues to serve as a vital transport hub for the Sembawang community, connecting residents to employment centres, shopping facilities, and other parts of Singapore.
