Located in Little India, A-One Restaurant operates as a highly underrated South Indian eatery specialising in banana leaf rice meals. The Muslim-owned establishment has built a devoted following for its exceptional Chicken or Mutton Briyani, which regulars describe as "of a different level & simply superb," with the Mutton Chukka Briyani standing out as a signature dish.

The banana leaf service style harks back to traditional South Indian dining, where rice and curries are served on fresh banana leaves that impart subtle flavours while providing eco-friendly, disposable plates. This authentic presentation appeals to those seeking genuine South Indian experiences rather than westernised adaptations.

As a traditional eatery, A-One Restaurant focuses resources on food quality rather than exceptional service or elaborate seating. This no-frills approach keeps prices accessible while allowing the kitchen to concentrate on delivering robust, flavourful preparations that showcase South Indian spice blends and cooking techniques.

Located in Little India, A-One benefits from foot traffic of both locals and tourists exploring the cultural precinct. For Muslim diners wanting halal South Indian food amidst Little India's predominantly North Indian offerings, A-One provides welcome variety with its briyani specialties and banana leaf meals.

We ordered a few dishes and the fried scallop porridge. The dishes were well-portioned but slightly salty. Highlights included the crispy Cai Pong omelette with its umami flavor and the delicious scallop porridge, which was good enough to enjoy on its own.

The porridge was flavourful and filling. They have lunch offers, including 3 dishes for $29.90, which is affordable. The vegetables were well-cooked and seasoned, and the portions are good.

It's a gem in the heartland! The cozy atmosphere, delicious porridge, generous ingredients, and excellent claypot dishes all sound amazing. Plus, the staff's politeness and attentiveness truly enhance the experience. Definitely a great spot for traditional Chinese food lovers! We finished everything, as you can see from the picture attached. Thank you.

One of the good places for a nice, comforting pot of hot porridge with claypot frog legs. We've been here to dine many times with our young son as there are good food options suitable for small kids, and the food is not salty. Good service with friendly staff too.

We celebrated my friend’s birthday and decided to dine at A-One in AMK Hub. This restaurant has been around for several years, and it doesn’t just serve porridge—it also offers a variety of zi char-style dishes. We ordered seven dishes in total: Stir-fried Broccoli with Assorted Mushrooms (3.5/5) A little bland, lacking strong flavors. Chicken & Mushroom Claypot Rice (4/5) Braised Minced Meat with Beancurd (3.5/5) Ginger Scallion Sliced Fish (4/5) Wok Hei Seafood Hor Fun (2.5/5) The noodles didn’t seem to be stir-fried long enough before the sauce was added. Golden Prawn Pancake (3.5/5) Sweet & Honey Meat (4/5) Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience with friendly staff, though it was a bit difficult to get their attention at times.
