It’s not often that you come across a halal Hokkien mee stall, so stumbling upon this place felt like finding a hidden gem! We ordered the Hokkien Fried Prawn Mee ($5) and the Fried Kway Teow ($4) — and both turned out to be surprisingly good. The Fried Kway Teow leans towards a middle ground between the Singapore-style sweet dark sauce and the Penang-style savoury version. There’s a gentle hint of sweetness, but it’s not overpowering. While it doesn’t have that heavy wok hei punch some may crave, the flavors are still well-balanced and satisfying. Before we knew it, the whole plate was gone. The Hokkien Fried Prawn Mee is the wet style, brimming with a rich, umami-packed broth that coats the noodles beautifully. The chili, with its distinct belacan profile, is robust and aromatic. On its own, it might come across as strong, but when mixed with the noodles, it balances out perfectly and elevates the dish. All in all, both dishes were well-executed, tasty, and great value. For those seeking halal options without compromising on flavor, this is definitely a spot worth checking out. And here’s a bonus tip — if you pay with the FairPrice app, you’ll even get 10% off. Good food and a good deal, what’s not to love?

The Hokkien mee is really delicious, and the prawns are also fresh. You can taste the wok hei and thick prawn broth. This is also halal, definitely recommend trying it.

This is at the Kopitiam on level 2 of Fernvale Community Centre. The Hokkien prawn mee is decent, the wet kind. It comes with 2 pieces of prawns for $5. The chilli is also good. The carrot cake is slightly crispy. While there might be better ones elsewhere, this is decent enough for me. The carrot cake arrived first, followed by the Hokkien mee. It was good that they served the carrot cake first and then reused the same pager to call for the Hokkien mee. The wait time for the Hokkien mee was around 15-20 minutes at 7 pm, during peak dinner hour. This place is also Halal, as they don't use pork. I was surprised when the staff asked me to return at the Halal section.

Food: This is what I call a delicious plate of Fried Hokkien Noodles! First, I savoured the food with my eyes and the camera. It had a beautiful colour and texture. The ingredients looked fresh, and the noodles had some slightly burnt strands which gave it that fragrant wok hei aroma. Next, I dug into the noodles and had my first bite. It was savoury and flavourful. The smooth and creamy sauce, which gleamed under the light, filled my mouth like an explosion, begging me to devour it instantly. Following that, I took a bite into the squid, and boy, it was fresh and easy to bite into! It was tender and chewy! I also cannot leave out the prawns; they were fresh too. Very solid meat, fresh, and sweet. The eggs were well scrambled and mixed in well with the dish. The chilli was balacan hot, though I actually ate the dish without any chilli.
I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for a few missing ingredients. I was actually digging for them but unfortunately, I didn't find any fried lard, pork belly meat strands, bean sprouts, or chives. (Updates:
1) It is a Halal-certified stall, so goodbye to pork belly and lard.
2) The bean sprouts and chives were present today, 31/12/22.
3) Perhaps add chicken meat strands with skin attached?
OK, that's all folks. I will update regularly on this stall.)
As for the service, I gave it 4 stars. It's the beeper system. It still lacked the olden ways of getting served.
The environment is moderately clean. Being run by a Kopitiam, as expected, one won't get a really well-wiped table like at CI YUAN hawker. CI Yuan Hawker deserved to be crowned for the cleanest environment. That's what I think.
Overall, I am still satisfied with the delicious noodles. Great job, and I hope to see improvements in the ingredients.

Delicious Hokkien Mee that is surprisingly halal-certified, proving that a solid prawn-based broth can work very well! Portions and prices are reasonable. Expect some wait on weekends.
