Carousel stands as Singapore's premier halal buffet restaurant, located at the prestigious Royal Plaza on Scotts at 25 Scotts Road, where it has earned the distinction of being voted Best Buffet Restaurant in Singapore for seven consecutive years at the AsiaOne People's Choice Awards. This remarkable achievement has led to Carousel's induction into the award's Hall of Fame, cementing its status as an institution in Singapore's dining landscape. The restaurant's commitment to halal excellence is demonstrated through its comprehensive MUIS certification, covering all food prepared in their kitchens and open kitchen stations. Carousel's elegant setting within the lobby of Royal Plaza on Scotts provides a sophisticated dining environment that attracts both local families and international visitors seeking world-class halal cuisine.
The culinary experience at Carousel features over 100 meticulously crafted dishes spanning Mediterranean, Asian, Japanese, and French cuisine, all prepared in halal-certified kitchens with dedicated stations for each culinary tradition. Signature offerings include freshly shucked oysters and premium sashimi, aromatic laksa, crispy Peking duck, and an extensive seafood spread featuring smoked crab legs and crab claws. The restaurant's pastry counter showcases decadent desserts including chocolate fondue and their famous bread and butter pudding, while the French rotisserie station adds an element of culinary theater to the dining experience. Each meal period offers a distinct experience, from comprehensive breakfast spreads to elaborate high tea services Thursday through Sunday, and dinner buffets that transform the space into a global culinary journey.
Carousel's significance extends beyond its impressive food offerings to its role as a community gathering place where Muslim families can celebrate special occasions without compromising their dietary requirements. The restaurant's inclusive approach includes vegetarian options across various stations, wheelchair accessibility, and a prayer room (Suraq) located on Level 2 for the convenience of Muslim diners. With smart-casual dress codes and thoughtful amenities, Carousel has successfully positioned itself as more than just a restaurant—it's a destination that represents the pinnacle of halal dining excellence in Singapore. The establishment's consistent recognition by TripAdvisor as a top 10% restaurant worldwide further validates its position as a must-visit culinary destination for both residents and tourists seeking exceptional halal buffet experiences.

Had the dim sum buffet high tea yesterday. The lobster claws and prawns were the saving grace, and having local teh and kopi were a nice touch.
However, the dim sum was a bit disappointing. The selection was somewhat limited (too many steamed buns), and the dumpling skins were quite thick.
The dessert selection also seemed rather sparse with several similar items.
Overall, it was passable, but not attractive enough for a return visit.

The standard of the food seems to be off this evening. Usually, the lobsters are pretty fresh, and their cooked food is excellent. However, for this evening, the lobsters were not really fresh; I needed to use some force to separate the meat from the shell. The Indian food selections were very salty. Luckily, the oysters were fresh and juicy, as was the sashimi. The desserts were yummy. The restaurant was about 55-65% full for a weekday evening.

For an international buffet, the spread was just nice. The food quality wasn't the best for its price; I expected better for a hotel buffet situated in Orchard. The desserts and kebab section were the highlights. The cheeses were limited but unique with their house-made varieties, which were very good too. The fresh seafood was a bit fishy and somehow super salty, so give it a try first before committing. The sushi was okay, but the otah one was really nice. The laksa was also the best there, very rich and flavourful. Must-try items include: 1. Laksa 2. Indian food section 3. Desserts and ice cream (the chocolate pudding was very rich and decadent, like a chocolate lava cake) 4. Cheeses, especially the house-made ones 5. Kebab section.

2.8/5 This is not our first visit to Carousel, and once again, one of the major issues is their cold seafood. The lobster claws were overly salty, much like the snow crab legs I had many years ago during a Christmas buffet dinner.
We visited for afternoon tea this time. While most of the food looked good, the taste was rather unremarkable. The dim sum was uninspired, the cakes and desserts were mediocre, and the rest of the offerings were a collection of processed fried food laden with MSG. Not a single dish I tried tasted exceptional. It's safe to say I won't be returning. I'm not a big eater, and as I get older, I'd rather choose quality over quantity. It's a pity, as the selection looked great.

A buffet that's very bad for the waistline but absolutely good for the soul. With an ample spread of dishes, the chilli crab and sushi stole the show — fresh, flavourful, and totally irresistible. Come hungry, leave happy!

It’s been a while, and the food is as good as I remember it to be. It has the usual spread, and on top of that, the quality beats every other buffet in town.
The cold seafood section is fantastic. I had countless delicious, fresh, creamy oysters to my heart's content. I'm surprised that only top varieties of sashimi are served.
The hot food sections are equally remarkable. The menu is carefully curated with a good variety of East, West, and local delicacies.
Bread, cheese, hot desserts, cakes, and puddings are not to be missed. The soya rose ice cream is hard to pass, even with an extremely full belly.
We ordered a bottle of Merlot, perfect for the feasting.

A wide variety of dishes, from seafood to meats and curries – everything looks so tempting! I loved the fresh seafood spread, especially the snow crabs and oysters, the juicy roast meats, and the rich-flavoured curries. It's great for those who enjoy both Western and Asian delights in one place. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking to indulge!

Fresh seafood and a good variety for the theme - 'Local Colours, Local Flavours'. The staff are attentive, clearing dirty dishes promptly, and food is replenished quickly when levels are low.
