The elevator going to the restaurant is a bit too high-tech for my liking. Restaurant seating is well-spaced. For the cold selection, the oysters are fresh and plump, and the half lobster has a good amount of coral. Sashimi only has salmon and octopus on display. Of the hot dishes, I enjoyed the scallops gratiné, beef stew, seafood in cream sauce, and ratatouille. The cheese platter looked rather sad, with pre-cut cheese showing sweaty beads. I was surprised to see no salad or bread stations. I loved their burnt cheesecake and yuzu jelly for dessert. The dark chocolate cake was too dry.

A short walk from Telok Ayer MRT, this Mediterranean & Japanese buffet is halal-certified and offers such a wide spread that it’s hard not to go back for seconds (I had 10 plates in total). The highlight for me has to be the premium seafood — the fresh lobsters, oysters, salmon, and tobiko were absolutely irresistible. I kept going back for the oysters and lobsters, no doubts about that! The salted egg crayfish was another standout dish, rich and flavourful. For dessert lovers, don’t miss out on their burnt cheesecake and lemon meringue tart. Both were beautifully done — the burnt cheesecake creamy and indulgent, the lemon tart refreshing with just the right balance of sweetness and tang. On top of the food, the dining experience is elevated by thoughtful touches: the restaurant is halal-certified, they even have halal mocktails, and separate washing areas for alcohol and non-alcohol glasses. There’s also an alcohol pool bar outside for those who want a drink, making it suitable for mixed groups. Another unique highlight is the whole grilled lamb — carved fresh at the counter. It’s perfect for gatherings, and the restaurant also caters to weddings and private events with a private room available. Overall, Chara Brasserie has something for everyone, whether you’re here for fresh seafood, hearty roasts, or indulgent desserts. I had a fantastic time and will definitely be back again!

We brought the family to the much-raved-about Halal buffet at Chara Brasserie, nestled within Mercure Icon Singapore City Centre. Conveniently located near Chinatown, it’s easily accessible via Telok Ayer MRT or Hong Lim Complex (Chinatown MRT). The spread was impressive—an international medley featuring satay, roti prata, shakshouka, salted egg crab, and fisherman’s stew. To dial up the indulgence, the buffet also showcased premium highlights like lobsters, fresh oysters, and a succulent lamb roast. For those who enjoy hands-on dining, a hotpot station adds a fun, interactive touch. Beverage options include a variety of non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks, alongside a sweet finish of desserts and fresh fruits. Service was warm and efficient, with staff quick to clear plates and keep the experience seamless. Whether you’re planning a casual gathering or a special celebration, Chara Brasserie offers a welcoming space with culinary flair.

My family and I visited here on a weekday night and we had a good time. The seafood was fresh, and the spread was awesome! The ambiance was great too; it was cozy with a good variety of food. I'm not sure how it is on weekends, but it was a lovely experience overall.

A halal buffet with a city view, conveniently located near Telok Ayer MRT (exit E). Expect a whole grilled lamb carved fresh, alongside dinner highlights like oysters, lobster, sushi & sashimi, hotpot ingredients, and of course, desserts. What makes it special for Muslim diners: ✅ Alcohol pool bar is located outside the restaurant. ✅ Separate washing areas for alcohol & non-alcohol glasses. ✅ Halal mocktails available.

Went there with my family on Saturday night to try the dinner buffet. The spread was good, and we especially enjoyed the fresh seafood, prata puff, and dessert sections. The drinks, hotpot, and Asian sections could be improved with more options, though. Overall, we enjoyed the meal.
