Dignity Kitchen stands as a pioneering social enterprise that has transformed the landscape of inclusive employment in Singapore since its founding in 2010. Located at 69 Boon Keng Road, this community food court was established by social entrepreneur Koh Seng Choon with a powerful mission: to restore dignity to the differently-abled and disadvantaged through meaningful vocational opportunities.
What sets Dignity Kitchen apart is its comprehensive approach to employment and training. The venue operates seven distinct food stalls – Western, Noodles, Rojak, Claypot, Drinks & Bakery, Malay, and Chicken Rice – all managed and staffed by differently-abled colleagues. Project Dignity developed the first government-approved training center and curriculum specifically for food court and food stall management, earning the prestigious ISO 22000 Standard for Food Safety Management. Since opening, they have trained and placed approximately 3,000 people with disabilities and social challenges into sustainable employment.
The 6,000-square-foot space has earned an impressive 4.8 out of 5 rating on Tripadvisor, ranking among Singapore's top restaurants. Operating Monday to Saturday from 8am to 3pm, Dignity Kitchen offers patrons delicious local hawker fare while supporting a worthy cause. The success of this model has even expanded internationally, with a sister site opening in Hong Kong in 2019, proving that good food and social impact can go hand in hand.
