Arrived at 11:15 am and ordered roast chicken drumstick rice with additional sides of braised egg and chicken gizzard. The soup accompanying the chicken rice tasted more of MSG and sugar than chicken. The portion of the drumstick was also surprisingly small, but the stall assistant explained it was because the drumstick had been deboned. The chilli sauce was okay but could do with a little more tartness. However, they committed the cardinal sin of all rice dishes – the chicken rice was not thoroughly cooked, and there were grains of rice with rather hard cores. An unforgivable mistake. The one thing they did right was the price. At $6.50 for drumstick rice plus egg and gizzard, this is very affordable in view of the growing global inflation.

Asked to add chicken and gizzard, and rice. It turned out they forgot the gizzard and rice. The chicken portion, even after adding chicken, was the same as other chicken rice shops' portions when chicken is never added. The portion was sad. Never coming back again.

Frankly speaking, the chicken rice isn't magical, but for $3.50, you get chicken rice (ji wei at no extra charge), oyster vegetables, soup, and some bean sprouts. The lady always makes you feel so welcome and even keeps a free table in front of her for single diners like myself. The soup is quite herbal and not the usual chicken stock. It's delicious!
