Gyunion stands as a pioneering halal Japanese beef rice bowl specialist in Singapore, offering authentic gyudon and ramen at remarkably affordable prices that make Japanese cuisine accessible to students and office workers alike. This Muslim-owned establishment has carved out a niche in Singapore's competitive Japanese food scene by focusing on beef-centric dishes that deliver genuine Japanese flavors while adhering to halal standards.

The restaurant's signature Gyu-don features simmered savory and sweet slices of beef with onions served over perfectly seasoned rice, available from just .90 with variations including curry sauce and cheesy versions. Their popular Spicy Gyu-men Plus represents their current bestseller, combining thin noodles with house-blend spicy red chili pepper broth, katsuobushi, and tamago toppings that create a complex flavor profile. The beef maintains an excellent lean-to-fat ratio with sweet juices and a subtle peppery aftertaste that distinguishes it from other Japanese establishments.

Located at Oxley Tower on Robinson Road, Gyunion operates Monday through Friday with extended evening hours on Thursday and Friday, catering primarily to the CBD crowd. Their lunch promo offers exceptional value at .90 for any main dish, drink, and egg, making it one of Singapore's most affordable authentic Japanese dining options. The hole-in-the-wall concept focuses on quality over ambiance, delivering scrumptious Japanese comfort food that has earned recognition among halal food enthusiasts seeking genuine gyudon experiences without compromise.

The food was okay. I tried the cheesy gyudon and my friend got the gyumen. The beef was good, but other than that, I didn't find anything out of the ordinary. The broth for the ramen was not particularly nice; it was basic. Service was quick and good. However, the place is really small, with seats for 8 in total. The tables and chairs I used were so small it was uncomfortable.

Went around close to 12 PM on a weekday. Waited about 10 minutes to be served, which is pretty decent given it's a one-man show from taking your order to preparation. The owner was polite. Seats are limited. Ordered the cheesy gyudon, and it was SUPER OILY. The rice was soaked in oil, and every spoonful coated my lips with more oil, and I'm not exaggerating. I understand that the beef in gyudon is usually a fatty cut, but not only was the beef overly oily, the rice was too. I couldn't finish the bowl. Otherwise, the taste of the beef is fine. You may try it if you don't mind eating rice drenched in oil.

Randomly chanced upon this hidden gem and went in not knowing what to expect. As a huge ramen fan, the spicy gyumen really hit the spot. The flavour is on the strong side, perfect alongside a cold drink.

Came in to try, and have since become a regular customer. One can only wonder how such a good bowl of Gyudon comes out of a set-up that's quite simple. It's also a perfect hideout for those who want to escape from the buzzing CBD area.

Love the minimal, no-frills decor of the place with seating for 12. Had the cheesy gyu-don ($8.90) and spicy gyu-men plus level 3 ($11.90). The cheesy gyu-don was comforting, while the gyu-men was really spicy! I'd recommend starting with level 1 to test the spice level if you're there for the first time. Service was prompt and friendly.

Been coming to Gyunion every month since it opened and will continue to do so!!! I'll always order the same thing because it's THAT good. Don't get me wrong, everything is super good, but I'm sticking to my Gyumen, hehe. Tim's service is always excellent. And you should totally try the affogato with ice cream and salted biscoff! Everything really complements each other! ❤️
