Isuramuya pioneered the concept of combining a fully halal Japanese restaurant with an on-premise marketplace selling imported Japanese grocery products, creating Singapore first such hybrid operation at JCube in Jurong East Central. Located on the fourth floor overlooking the ice rink, this family-friendly establishment served authentic Japanese cuisine including sushi, ramen, and Asian fusion dishes prepared with ingredients flown directly from Japan to maintain quality and authenticity.

The marketplace component differentiated Isuramuya from typical Japanese restaurants by allowing customers to purchase the same quality ingredients used in the kitchen, creating transparency and building trust in their sourcing claims. This retail integration also provided an additional revenue stream while reinforcing the authentic Japanese positioning, as customers could explore unfamiliar products and cooking techniques beyond their restaurant meals. The JCube location in Jurong East served the western residential population with limited access to authentic Japanese ingredients.

The fully halal certification represented a significant achievement in Japanese cuisine, where traditional preparation often involves sake, mirin, and pork-based ingredients requiring substantial menu adaptation. Isuramuya commitment to authentic Japanese food while maintaining halal compliance created a unique value proposition for Muslim families seeking Japanese dining beyond the typical fusion restaurants that dilute traditional recipes. The ice rink view added family appeal, making it suitable for post-skating meals.

However, the pandemic ultimately made operations unfeasible, leading to permanent closure effective January 1st, 2022. The closure represents the loss of a unique concept that successfully merged Japanese culinary authenticity with halal certification and retail integration, demonstrating that even innovative concepts with clear market positioning cannot always survive external economic shocks that fundamentally alter dining behaviour and consumer spending patterns.
