Lima Permata is a traditional Malay food stall located at Bedok South Road Market and Food Centre, specializing in authentic Indonesian cuisine with a focus on the beloved Nasi Rawon and other traditional Malay dishes. This Muslim-owned establishment operates from Block 16 Bedok South Road, serving the local community with time-honored recipes that showcase the rich culinary heritage of the Indonesian archipelago and traditional Malay cooking techniques. The stall is particularly known for their Nasi Rawon, a distinctive Indonesian black soup dish that features tender beef in a flavorful broth made with keluak nuts, creating the characteristic dark color and complex umami flavors that make this dish a regional specialty. The establishment represents the important role of Indonesian cuisine in Singapore's food landscape, preserving traditional recipes and cooking techniques that have been passed down through generations. What makes Lima Permata special is their dedication to serving authentic Indonesian dishes like Nasi Rawon that showcase the complexity and depth of traditional Malay-Indonesian cuisine, offering both Indonesian expatriates and local food enthusiasts a taste of genuine regional flavors in Singapore's inclusive hawker centre culture.

This is the highest-priced nasi padang in this hawker centre. I was charged $6.50 for rice with sambal goreng, sayur lodeh, and sambal boiled eggs.
When I asked about the high price, the proprietress replied, “Vegetables are very expensive.”
The taste was very mediocre.
No wonder there was a queue of 10 people at the nasi padang stall next door, but none at this one.

I've bought from this stall twice. I've lived in this area since birth and honestly, I think they opened in one of the most competitive hawker centres selling halal food. They're not just fighting to sell food; they're fighting with tradition as well. There are 3 well-known traditional Nasi Padang stalls, 2 Nasi Lemak stalls (one is quite well-known and traditional), and 1 Prata stall (I rate this Prata shop in the Top 3). Every time a new Malay shop opens, they close within the next month or two. That's how competitive it is. The good thing about this shop is that they sell simple dishes. First time, I bought their Nasi Lemak Ayam and Mee Goreng. Second time, I bought Nasi Lemak Ayam with additional Bergedil/Sotong and Mee Siam.
Their Nasi Lemak, go for it. 4 out of 5 stars. Mantap guys!! The rice, to me, has the right consistency and fragrance. If their sotong were slightly softer, it would be 5 out of 5. It's rare for a Nasi Lemak stall to have sambal sotong. To me, a traditional Nasi Lemak is eaten with chicken/fish and sambal sotong. Their Nasi Lemak checks the box.
Their Mee Goreng/Bee Hoon/Kway Teow looks and tastes like standard Malay noodles. The sambal tumis would elevate the noodles' flavour.
As for their Mee Siam, I think they could improve the dish by using original tofu instead of dried tofu. My only reason for this comment is that this area is packed with elderly people. They probably have few teeth, so using original soft tofu would likely suit their tastebuds.
Next time I drop by, I'm going to buy their Kacang Pool. I saw someone buying it, and it actually looked decent. I'm not sure about the taste, but the colour and consistency of the dish, from what I saw, are like how my mother makes it, so I hope it's not disappointing.
