Master Prata is a halal-certified Indian Muslim restaurant that carries forward a remarkable three-generation heritage dating back to the 1930s, representing one of Singapore's most authentic prata specialists with locations at Alexandra Central Mall and Sembawang Shopping Centre. This establishment has earned legendary status for reviving the super crispy prata style made famous by the iconic Thesevi's along Jalan Kayu, delivering what many consider the best crispy-style prata in Singapore with each piece made fresh upon order.
Their extensive menu offers over 50 prata varieties including their signature Plain Crispy Prata served two pieces for $3.60 that achieves the perfect balance of incredible crispiness on the outside and slight fluffiness inside, the popular Plaster Prata featuring a sunny-side up egg for $3, and specialty variations including cheese, banana, and chocolate options. Complementing their prata selection, they serve aromatic mutton curry, rojak, and their acclaimed dhum briyani with fragrant basmati rice that showcases authentic Indian Muslim cooking techniques.
Operating with the philosophy that fresh preparation creates superior taste, Master Prata has become the go-to destination for prata enthusiasts who appreciate the crispy style that 'was as if the crispy prata had just risen from the dead.' Their commitment to halal certification, traditional cooking methods, and maintaining family recipes across generations has established them as a cornerstone of Singapore's Indian Muslim food scene, serving both nostalgic locals and curious food enthusiasts seeking authentic flavors worth sacrificing their diet for.

My first visit to the restaurant. We ordered plain prata and banana prata, along with hot tea and Milo. The environment is very pleasant, and the staff are friendly and provide prompt service. The prata was very crispy, especially the banana prata. Although the gravy is good, it could be improved. They provided us with fish and chicken gravy. The price of the plain prata is $1.80, which is quite reasonable. Well done!

Overpriced Indian Food. $65 for 4 pieces of naan, butter chicken, mutton curry (2 pieces), green curry, and 4 cups of ginger milk tea ($5 per cup). We waited 45 to 60 minutes. Finished our tea, and the food still hadn't arrived. Do not order the naan combo meal. Not good value for money.

Tried Master Prata at Alexandra recently. The roti prata was crispy and well done – definitely one of the better ones around. However, the power briyani didn’t quite live up to its name; it was decent but lacked the punch I was expecting. Overall, a good spot for prata, but the briyani could use a bit more oomph.

Ordered a plain prata, egg prata, chicken curry, and chicken Maggi goreng. The pratas were excellent! Hot, crispy, and freshly made. The chicken curry and fish curry provided paired perfectly with the pratas. The Maggi goreng was fragrant, well-seasoned, and had just the right amount of spice. Service was friendly and efficient too. Would definitely return to try more dishes!

Undisputedly one of the best Prata places in Singapore. The high quality of the Prata here is consistent, and the accompanying dipping sauces – whether chicken curry or fish curry – go very well with it. The Teh Tarik here is also very good, whether taken hot or cold. The service is friendly and helpful. The ambience is set in an air-conditioned mall. By the way, the menu goes far beyond Prata; other local, Thai, and even Western cuisines are also available.

The prata here is super legit, arguably one of the best in Singapore. Their plain soft prata is light, airy, and flaky. It seems like they're using their own dough formula instead of getting it from a supplier. Their egg prata is also very nice, a tier above the rest.
The best part is how flavorful their curry is! Very thick and solid, and you can definitely feel the spice!
Their service is also surprisingly good! Honestly, you wouldn't expect much, but the staff are so friendly and refused to let us take the menu. They said, 'Don't worry, we'll bring it to you.' Even when asking for more curry, the staff was also super nice and said we don't need to be paiseh to walk to them. Just flag them down, and they'll come serve us.
We got 3 pratas: 1 soft kosong, 1 egg, and 1 cheese. They also gave us 2 different curries. Their fish curry is my favorite – very deep and intense.
