Old Chang Kee has been Singapore's legendary curry puff destination since 1956, when it began as a humble stall in a coffee shop near Rex Cinema on Mackenzie Road, earning the nickname "Rex Curry Puff." Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Han Keen Juan, who acquired the business in 1986, Old Chang Kee transformed from a small corner stall into Singapore's most recognized snack chain, officially receiving halal certification from MUIS on January 7, 2005.
Every Old Chang Kee curry puff contains their signature blend of zesty curried potatoes, succulent bite-sized chicken chunks, and slices of boiled egg, mixed with a perfect combination of herbs and spices that has remained consistent for decades. Beyond their legendary curry puffs (rebranded as Curry'O in 2008), the menu includes Singapore chicken curry, nasi lemak, Singapore laksa, and various local snacks that celebrate Singapore's diverse culinary heritage.
With over 100 retail outlets worldwide including 80+ locations across Singapore and international presence in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom, Old Chang Kee sells more than 40,000 curry puffs daily. The company has earned prestigious recognition including the SPBA Distinctive Brand Awards 2005, Singapore Brand Award Heritage Award 2005, and selection by U.S. Travel & Leisure Magazine as one of the world's 20 best fast food chains in 2012 - the only Singapore brand to receive this honor.

The Chinese aunty with spectacles was extremely rude. While the customer in front of me was taking his time to pay, she did not bother to ask me what I wanted to order. I told her what I wanted and she packed it. However, after I had paid and showed her my payment, and the machine in the shop announced loudly ‘$2 received’, she refused to give me my food. She insisted that I had to wait for the man in front of me to pay first before she could give me my food, even though I had clearly already shown her that I made payment. Then, after the guy was done, I had to show her AGAIN the same thing. What illogical, inefficient service is this? And the aunty showed attitude. I don't think I will patronize this stall again, at least not when that rude aunty is there. She gave me a really bad experience at Old Chang Kee. I totally didn't want to eat the food anymore after the horrible customer service.

The squid and chicken wings were very dry and hard, likely over-fried compared to other outlets which are more acceptable. As prices increase, the bare minimum is to maintain quality and not let it degrade.

The Malay woman working this morning was especially rude and ignorant! Perhaps it's due to her age, but that shouldn't be an excuse for such uncalled-for rudeness.
Shop opens at 7 am, and I arrived around 6:40 am. There was another elderly gentleman at the counter trying to buy something. I politely asked if I could start purchasing, and the reply was, "He's buying already, then? What do you want?"
I ignored that and proceeded to take the mee siam. As I was still waiting to pay, I apologized and requested to change to 2 spring rolls instead. The elderly Malay woman proceeded to sigh loudly, kept shaking her head, ignored me, and just continued working. The cashier aunty then told me it was $3.80, to which I responded to confirm if it was for 2 spring rolls. The elderly Malay woman then remarked, "That's why $3.80!" and sighed loudly again.
I paid and left, feeling super embarrassed for her colleague who acknowledged the old woman's unnecessary rudeness. PLEASE TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES BETTER! BEING OLD DOESN'T MEAN A FREE PASS FOR RUDENESS!

Met a staff with a poor attitude today. She kept ignoring me when I called for her while she was in the kitchen. I was polite throughout. When I was paying up, she called me a boy. I'm 32 already, you old woman.

Morning breakfast is good. In the afternoon, the fried chicken and chicken popcorn looked like they were fried using old, used oil, and were too brown. Or perhaps they were refried. At that time, even the big fishball wasn't cooked well.

Taking a bite of this Curry O curry puff is like hitting the jackpot of flavors. The crust is super flaky and buttery, melting in your mouth and setting the stage for what's inside. The filling is a cozy mix of juicy chicken, soft potatoes, and slices of hard-boiled egg, all wrapped up in a rich, tasty curry. Every bite is a perfect balance of flavors that just works.
This curry puff is a delightful combo of simple and satisfying. The buttery skin pairs perfectly with the filling, and the spices make it all the more addictive. Whether you're grabbing it as a snack or a quick meal, it's sure to leave you wanting more.
