Walked past this small bakery cafe right at the doorstep of Buona Vista MRT. It has a small counter inside, with all seats located outdoors, alfresco but sheltered.
I was recommended the rendang chicken pie by the chatty manager. It's a surprisingly good pie, I would say. I would certainly come back for other pastries.
The coffee is also good. Less than $3 for a cappuccino in this area is a good deal, if you ask me.
A quiet place to do your work during off-peak hours.

Lovely hole-in-the-wall social enterprise.
Very good black coffee at $1.70. Pastries like rendang pie and puffs are also good at $2.10.
Skip the sliced cakes – they are very dry. Just go for the pastries.
Big, airy seating area to rest your legs and get a quick refresher.

A really cute little cafe right next to Buona Vista MRT. It wasn't crowded during weekday lunch, so it was easy to get seats. The ambience is nice with lots of tables, feeling open and airy. It's a really comfortable place to sit and chill.
The food is also very affordable. Pies are about $2, and so is the coffee, like a latte.
The latte is thick and flavourful, offering good value for money at just over $2.
The chicken rendang pie is also just over $2, and it's flaky and tasty.
They offer weekday lunch sets for $8.50 with a drink, which is a really good deal considering the nice seating and atmosphere.
It's a social enterprise, providing employment for elderly folks, which is nice to support.

Finally got the chance to try out the lunch value meal here. I tried the Friday menu - Salmon Teriyaki with Potato Wedges & Salad, including an Iced Lemon Tea, which only costs $8.50.
