Superstar Original Famous Penang Laksa operates as a halal-certified Malaysian cuisine specialist strategically located at 32 New Market Road, #01-1002B, Singapore 050032, within People's Park Food Centre in Chinatown, serving local residents, tourists, and Malaysian food enthusiasts with authentic Penang assam laksa preparations that celebrate the rich culinary heritage of Penang's iconic spicy-sour noodle soup traditions using traditional ingredients and cooking techniques. This establishment has positioned itself as a premium destination for authentic Penang laksa experiences, featuring a Michelin Guide recognition as one of the top 5 spots in Singapore for assam laksa, while maintaining complete halal certification that allows Muslim families to enjoy this beloved Malaysian dish that was previously difficult to find in halal form within Singapore's competitive Malaysian restaurant landscape. Superstar's strategic location within People's Park Food Centre, approximately 5 minutes walk from Chinatown MRT station, ensures convenient access for both local residents seeking authentic Malaysian flavors and cultural tourists exploring Singapore's historic Chinatown district while seeking genuine Southeast Asian cuisine experiences.

Superstar Original Famous Penang Laksa specializes in authentic Penang assam laksa featuring generous bowls filled with shredded mackerel, pineapples, lettuce, fresh mint leaves, torch ginger flowers, and ginger slices served with thick rice noodles imported directly from a factory in Penang to ensure authentic texture and flavor consistency. The restaurant operates Monday through Sunday from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM with their signature laksa priced at 2 per serving (previously 0) and takeaway sets starting at 5, while also offering large blanched cockles with spicy sauce for 2 per 700-gram serving that demonstrates their commitment to premium ingredient sourcing and authentic preparation methods. The establishment's fish broth preparation uses ikan kembong fish gently spiced with chili pepper and turmeric, alongside asam keping which provides milder, gentler sourness compared to tamarind, creating the complex flavor profiles and aromatic characteristics that distinguish authentic Penang laksa from commercial imitations and establishing their reputation for preserving traditional cooking techniques.

The restaurant's halal certification and authentic Penang specialization provide essential cultural connection and dietary compliance for Singapore's Muslim and Malaysian communities seeking traditional laksa experiences that preserve authentic cooking methods and ingredient sourcing while ensuring complete religious dietary requirements are met. Superstar Original Famous Penang Laksa's success in earning Michelin Guide recognition while maintaining halal standards demonstrates the establishment's commitment to culinary excellence that serves both food quality expectations and religious dietary compliance, creating comprehensive dining experiences that bridge traditional Malaysian food culture with contemporary Singapore's diverse culinary landscape. The establishment's sustained presence within People's Park Food Centre's competitive dining environment, combined with their premium pricing strategy and authentic ingredient importation, has positioned Superstar as both a destination restaurant for Penang cuisine enthusiasts and a significant cultural institution that successfully preserves traditional Malaysian laksa heritage while serving the evolving needs of Singapore's multicultural community seeking authentic Southeast Asian flavors and cultural dining experiences within religiously compliant restaurant operations.

Got sticker shock! The takeaway price can go penang culture and dine inside restaurant. The portion

Got sticker shock! The takeaway price is quite high compared to dining in. The portion is huge - definitely for 2 pax (the lady boss could have mentioned this). For March 2025, dine-in was $12, while takeaway was $17. Expensive. Takeaway uses the same disposable plastic container. Anyway, this is definitely a one-and-only time going there. Not worth the price for the food. Perhaps paying for their "fame"? I should have read the reviews before deciding to drop by. I've always wanted to try this Penang laksa. Got burnt. Next time, I'll dine in at a restaurant as that will be cheaper compared to this hawker stall.

I've tried many Penang laksa in Singapore and Penang. Hands down, this is the best! It's a well-balanced explosion of flavours. The seller personally imports the correct kind of noodles all the way from Penang. If you know how to appreciate this dish, it's definitely worth $10. You simply cannot find anything this good in Singapore.

Halal Laksa in Chinatown! ️ Visited Super Star Original Famous Penang Laksa at 32 New Market Rd, #01-1002B, located in People's Park Food Centre, Chinatown. This halal-certified spot is open daily from 1 PM to 11 PM. I tried their Kampung Penang Asam Laksa, and it’s one of the best laksas I’ve ever had! The flavors were incredible, though it might be a bit spicy for some. I also tried their small portion of cockles, which was a treat. The owner is super friendly, and they accept PayNow for payment. Highly recommended! If you’re in the area, make time to try it—I’m already planning my next visit!

I'm sorry to hear that. You mentioned: "I’m going to close it." As a devoted fan of Penang Laksa, I recently Googled "Best Penang Laksa in Singapore" and discovered a hidden gem. The stall I visited not only met but exceeded my expectations—it truly transported me back to Penang! Every ingredient was fresh, fresh, fresh—the broth, the herbs, the noodles—all bursting with authenticity. The owner (a warm, kind, and sincere lady) made the experience unforgettable. You have to try it to believe it! For comparison, I also tried a Michelin Guide Penang Laksa stall in [Location omitted] which was awarded in 2024... but the taste? Let’s just say it didn’t leave a lasting impression. This makes me wonder: Do media buzz, food judges, or even the Michelin Guide truly reflect quality? I sincerely hope "Super Star Famous Original Penang Laksa" continues thriving—we need more humble stalls like this preserving authentic flavors!

This Laksa place is one of the best I have come across in my pursuit of exceptional Laksa across Australia and Southeast Asia. I came here multiple times during my stay in Singapore. It was well worth finding this place, Super Star Original Famous Penang Laksa.

A bowl of Penang laksa that exudes freshness from its ingredients, topped with mackerel to create an explosion of flavor, much like the taste I've experienced from an original store in Penang itself. If you value quality, this $12 dish is probably better than a Michelin-starred Penang laksa.
