A rainy day. The best day to spend CDC vouchers and eat a piping hot bowl of Nonya mee siam. Still excellent.
This cafe is an institution in Siglap, much like Chin Mee Chin is to Katong. It's one of the few halal cafes. As a resident of the precinct and a long-time patron, I only come here for two things: Nonya Mee Siam and Grandma's chocolate cakes.
Recently, I've stopped coming here because the prices have increased so much. Yes, it's not inelastic. It's ridiculous to pay three times the average price for a bowl of mee siam, albeit of very good quality. After the price increased past $8, it totally crossed my pain threshold. Something similar for the chocolate cake... I have since mastered how to make one at home, using the air fryer. Super easy.
Thanks to the CDC vouchers for the treat today! It warmed my day!

Haireey is a very attentive and knowledgeable service staff. The mee siam is very good and brings back memories of my school tuck shop taste. Lots of tau pok and tau cheo (fermented bean paste) which gives the dish wonderful depth of flavour. The sugee cake was warmed up and reminds me of what my mum used to bake… nostalgic!

August 2024: A nice place for mid-afternoon high tea with cake and coffee. The mee siam is a generous portion and absolutely yummy, served with sambal chilli and lime on the side. The curly fries were a little over-fried but still good. The service was good as well.

I had such a wonderful experience at The Royals Cafe (Siglap)! The food was absolutely delicious, especially their Mee Siam, which I honestly think is one of the best in Singapore. The gravy was rich, balanced, and so satisfying. Their Nasi Lemak and mini chicken pies were also fantastic, and the wide variety of freshly made cakes (like salted caramel and ondeh-ondeh) made it hard to choose just one.
The cafe has a cozy, homely atmosphere, perfect for families, and the service was warm, attentive, and friendly. Portions are generous and offer very good value for money.
If you’re looking for a halal-friendly cafe with hearty local dishes and amazing desserts, The Royals Cafe is highly recommended. I’ll definitely be coming back again!
