Warong Nasi Pariaman holds the distinguished title of Singapore's oldest surviving nasi padang stall, serving authentic Minangkabau cuisine continuously since 1948 from their shophouse at 738 North Bridge Road, at the corner of Kandahar Street near Sultan Mosque. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Mr Isrin bin Ibrahim and Mdm Rosna binte Zainal Abidin who migrated from Padang in West Sumatra, Indonesia, the restaurant brought a piece of their homeland to Kampong Gelam over seven decades ago.

The couple initially operated from a street stall before renting their current shophouse and naming the business after their hometown of Pariaman, a city in West Sumatra. They specialized in traditional nasi padang—Minangkabau-style steamed rice served with an assortment of pre-cooked dishes including beef rendang (slow-cooked beef) and ayam bakar (roasted chicken). The authentic Minangkabau cooking style involves food being prepared over a charcoal flame, which imparts a subtle but unique smoky taste to each dish that distinguishes it from other preparations.

In the 1990s, the founding couple passed down the business to their children, who now run the restaurant with their families, ensuring traditional recipes and cooking methods continue unchanged. Operating Thursday through Tuesday from 7:30am to 3pm, Warong Nasi Pariaman serves as a living connection to Singapore's Indonesian heritage, offering the same authentic flavors that have satisfied diners for over 75 years in the heart of Kampong Gelam.
