An interesting characteristic of White Sands is its role as a regular gathering spot for conscripted soldiers, owing to its proximity to Pasir Ris Bus Interchange where servicemen are dropped off from army camps on Pulau Tekong. This has made the mall a familiar landmark for Singapore's national servicemen.
