The only thing this dish lacks is "char kway teow". The noodles were simply simmered in sweet sauce until cooked. Look at the sweet sauce leaching from the noodles in the picture. There was no wok hei, no dimension to the flavours, no depth, just a super sweet, flat taste. The stall next to it is probably better, judging from the long queue.

Finally tried this Halal fried kway teow from Bukit Merah View Hawker Centre. I wanted to try it the other time I was here for lunch, but unfortunately, they were closed. I ended up trying their neighbour's stall, which coincidentally also sells fried kway teow. I learned about this stall through a TV interview and saved the place ever since. I reached there late afternoon, and there wasn't any queue, so I was able to order immediately. Prices for the char kway teow start from SGD$4.5 onwards.
The portion of the fried kway teow was generous. It came with sliced fishcakes and cockles, which were a little small. Taste-wise, it wasn't bad, with a hint of wok hei, but it seemed to be lacking in flavours.
Overall, it's a decent fried kway teow that I've tried lately. The owner is actually very friendly; I even managed to strike up a conversation with him while he was preparing the food.

Halal fried kway teow, which comes as a surprise. Being halal, there is no Chinese sausage and pork lard. No Chinese sausage is fine, but not frying the noodles with pork lard makes the dish lack umami. The difference in taste is so obvious and vast that it is hard to bridge the gap. As a Chinese person, I can't seriously recommend this char kway teow to the non-Muslim community. This dish just lacks punch. Ingredients were also few and little, mainly egg, fish cake, and cockles. There was hardly any egg and fishcake in my big plate ($6.50) of noodles. The cockles were no better. I counted 6 in my plate, and each was as large as a corn kernel. If not for the fact that this has a niche market in the Muslim population, I would rate it even lower. For the Chinese char kway teow lover, look elsewhere. There are many other better char kway teow out there.

Decided to give this plate of char kway teow goodness a try. It's pretty okay-nice, but not in a way that one should travel all the way to B.Merah just to try this out (leave that to me, heh). Their plate of CKT uses dark sauce, which I don't normally like, as I'm used to mum's version which is a brown, spicy sauce. I rarely buy CKT outside, and if I do, it'll be beef CKT. Their cockles are not big, pretty small really, and I already asked for extra but it's not really visible unless you start eating into it. Fast service, clean stall, overall clean hawker centre.

Amazing how it can still withstand the flavour and complexity despite it’s journey from Bukit Merah
Amazing how it can still withstand the flavour and complexity despite its journey from Bukit Merah to Pasir Ris Super friendly uncle, and it was nice that they are extremely thankful for every single customer who came to purchase their food.
In terms of the food itself, it’s just spicy enough and flavourful enough, but the key ingredient is the hum. So I will ALWAYS go for the extra hum option. Go for small for a snack, medium for a proper meal, and large if you’re famished!
The best part of the whole thing: when I went there around 7+, there was NO QUEUE! Amazing. Would definitely come back again and again if I stayed in the area. Best halal-certified kway teow in SG hands down.

Best kway teow ever! My husband and I's favourite, we always go there. The uncle is very friendly too. It's cheap and there's even a QR code for those who don't pay by cash. And it's halal, so I really urge Muslims who crave genuine Chinese kway teow to try it.

Ordered the medium-sized Char Kway Teow at $5.50 (as pictured). It was very flavourful with lots of cockles included. There's also the option to add extra cockles for $2. The owner is Chinese-Muslim, so the food is halal~

I read about this place online sometime back, but I never got around to trying it. Truth be told, I'm an old-school foodie, and Char Kway Teow must be laden with pork lard for me, or it's a no-go. However, I serviced my car in Alexandra Road, and this was close by. As luck would have it, the workshop finished with the car early, so off I went for a bite of Halal CKT.
I was apprehensive at first, but the soft-spoken hawker took to his wok as I waited. Once done, I dug in with bated breath.
Just look at this photo of my plate. It looks like the real deal, lard and all, doesn't it? It's got the Wok Hei, I tell you! None of that sinful oily taste, but in its place, a clean, clear, sweet-sauce induced flavour, with generous amounts of fish cake and cockles.
I liked it! It's smoky, charred strands of kway teow, layered in just the right amount of sauce, with none of that icky aftertaste of lard!
Will I be back? Well, if I'm in the neighbourhood, why not?

First time trying Uncle's CKT, ordered extra spicy and he delivered. Not many hawkers use chilli padi to fry it, which was quite a surprise! The taste is very pleasant even though he doesn't use lard. The uncle is also very chill and friendly. Even though our interaction was short, it was pleasant. After eating, I dabao-ed one for my brother. You guys should come and support this stall!
