Bismillah Biryani Restaurant has established itself as Singapore's premier destination for authentic North Indian and Pakistani cuisine, earning the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand award consecutively from 2016 to 2025. Founded as a halal-certified establishment, this Muslim-owned restaurant has garnered international recognition from Lonely Planet, which recommends visitors 'bag a table at Bismillah Biryani and tuck into the best biryani and kebabs this side of the Bay of Bengal.' The restaurant specializes in traditional dum biryani preparation, utilizing the ancient slow-steaming method that infuses rich flavors into every grain of premium basmati rice, creating an aromatic and flavorful dining experience that has made it a culinary landmark in Singapore's diverse food scene.
The restaurant's comprehensive menu showcases the depth of North Indian cuisine, featuring signature dishes such as lamb shank biryani renowned for its fork-tender texture and robust meaty flavors, chicken dum biryani served with hard-boiled eggs, and an extensive selection of korma, kofta, haleem, kebabs, kulfi, paya, nihari, and chana masala. Each dish is prepared using authentic recipes and traditional cooking techniques that preserve the cultural heritage of the subcontinent. The lamb shank biryani, priced at $22.50, represents the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and generous portions, while their chicken dum biryani offers a more accessible entry point to their acclaimed preparations without compromising on authenticity or flavor intensity.
With five locations across Singapore, including the flagship Michelin-awarded outlet at 50 Dunlop Street and a presence at NTU North Spine, Bismillah Biryani Restaurant has successfully expanded while maintaining consistent quality and halal certification standards. Operating daily from 11:30am to 8:30pm, the restaurant serves both traditional diners seeking authentic subcontinental flavors and new customers discovering the complexity of properly prepared biryani. The establishment represents more than just a restaurant; it embodies the successful integration of traditional Islamic culinary heritage into Singapore's multicultural dining landscape, proving that authentic preparation methods and religious dietary compliance can achieve both critical acclaim and popular success in a competitive market.

I ordered two Nann and chicken Nihari. It was a disaster; the chicken was very hard and had a foul smell. The Nann they gave was not Nann at all. The taste is not like what you get back in India or Pakistan. Worst experience.
Ordered grilled fish today, 10th April 2025. Easily one of the worst fish I've ever had.

I ordered grilled fish, it was the worst fish ever I had in my life. Too hard too frozen, grill way
I ordered the grilled fish, and it was the worst fish I've ever had. It was too hard and too frozen, as if it was grilled at least two days ago and then just heated in the oven and served. Please skip this restaurant.

Nice vibe and theme at the food court. The Dum Chicken Biryani is well seasoned and spiced. However, the chicken carcass was mostly bones with very little meat. While I don't claim to be a biryani expert, I've tried many different biryanis around the island, and this is my first experience where no gravy was served or provided (in case you think they forgot, there's a sign at the stall stating that gravy is not included with the biryani).

Highly recommended, but it was totally lousy! The place was crowded, yet I felt cheated by the food served here! Definitely not the best biryani in SG!
The lamb biryani was dry and the shank undercooked! The ghee seemed to have dried up in the rice due to uneven heat they kept the cooked biryani in!
The chicken biryani was worse off with semi-cold rice and egg cold as ice!
No dalcha or any form of gravy, raita, or appalam served to complete and compliment the biryani! $17 and $12 dollars is way too high without these sides.
A liquid, watery, sweet mint-infused yoghurt was served, which was horrible!
No go for a second time for me. Disappointed with Bismillah Biryani.

Tried their biriyani a few times and it's not bad, worth the price compared to other restaurants in the CBD area. The atmosphere is also okay. Service was good and efficient.

I have no idea what these other reviewers are on about. Yes, it's pricey, but the portion is big and the quality is good. It's a biryani full of flavour and spice. I had the young mutton biryani. It would be nice if it came with pappadum/curry for the high price, though!

The place is located a few hundred meters away from Tanjong Pagar MRT and Plaza. It is a very popular biryani spot in the CBD area, so expect high crowds during peak hours. Don't be surprised if twenty to thirty people flood the restaurant at once. We had to wait almost fifteen minutes to get our food due to the crowd. I tried the mutton biryani and definitely recommend it, as the taste was quite good with all the spices, and the meat was tender and cooked really well. The chicken biryani had the same taste in the rice, but the chicken itself was somewhat average. They do have fish and vegetarian with egg options. No curry is served with the biryani. The price is reasonable. Recommended.

Taste wise not that authentic, but one time is ok
It's a good Indian place near Gardens by the Bay. Taste-wise, it's not that authentic, but it's okay for a one-time visit.

Reasonable price for those eating in MBS. The naan bread looks like pizza dough, not your typical naan. We ordered butter chicken; for me, it was just okay, but the servings were generous enough for two people to share.
