Bismillah Biryani Restaurant has established itself as Singapore's premier destination for authentic North Indian and Pakistani cuisine, earning the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand award consecutively from 2016 to 2025. Founded as a halal-certified establishment, this Muslim-owned restaurant has garnered international recognition from Lonely Planet, which recommends visitors 'bag a table at Bismillah Biryani and tuck into the best biryani and kebabs this side of the Bay of Bengal.' The restaurant specializes in traditional dum biryani preparation, utilizing the ancient slow-steaming method that infuses rich flavors into every grain of premium basmati rice, creating an aromatic and flavorful dining experience that has made it a culinary landmark in Singapore's diverse food scene.

The restaurant's comprehensive menu showcases the depth of North Indian cuisine, featuring signature dishes such as lamb shank biryani renowned for its fork-tender texture and robust meaty flavors, chicken dum biryani served with hard-boiled eggs, and an extensive selection of korma, kofta, haleem, kebabs, kulfi, paya, nihari, and chana masala. Each dish is prepared using authentic recipes and traditional cooking techniques that preserve the cultural heritage of the subcontinent. The lamb shank biryani, priced at $22.50, represents the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and generous portions, while their chicken dum biryani offers a more accessible entry point to their acclaimed preparations without compromising on authenticity or flavor intensity.

With five locations across Singapore, including the flagship Michelin-awarded outlet at 50 Dunlop Street and a presence at NTU North Spine, Bismillah Biryani Restaurant has successfully expanded while maintaining consistent quality and halal certification standards. Operating daily from 11:30am to 8:30pm, the restaurant serves both traditional diners seeking authentic subcontinental flavors and new customers discovering the complexity of properly prepared biryani. The establishment represents more than just a restaurant; it embodies the successful integration of traditional Islamic culinary heritage into Singapore's multicultural dining landscape, proving that authentic preparation methods and religious dietary compliance can achieve both critical acclaim and popular success in a competitive market.

Nice vibe and theme at the food court. The Dum Chicken Biryani is well seasoned and spiced. However, the chicken carcass was mostly bones with very little meat. While I don't claim to be a biryani expert, I've tried many different biryanis around the island, and this is my first experience where no gravy was served or provided (in case you think they forgot, there's a sign at the stall stating that gravy is not included with the biryani).

Title: Overrated, unwelcoming, and not worth the hype I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was honestly disappointing. I visited Bismillah Biryani at Gardens by the Bay only because my daughters were hungry and there weren’t many halal options around. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have chosen it. The staff were rude, unfriendly, and looked like they couldn’t be bothered. Not a single smile or basic courtesy. What really bothered me was how unwelcoming they seemed — especially towards locals. Tourists may not notice, but the difference in treatment is obvious. When I asked if they could help pack my unfinished food, they just threw me an empty container with zero effort. For a place that claims to have a Michelin star, the service was a joke. Even the food was cold, bland, and totally overpriced. Nothing special at all — definitely not worthy of the hype or the price tag. Honestly, I won’t return and I don’t recommend this place, especially if you’re expecting decent service or actual hospitality.

Ordered vegetarian dum biryani for $11.50. Taste-wise, it was okay. My tongue felt like it had been assaulted by the spice. However, it didn't have much vegetables at all; they were practically non-existent. The rice was dry as if it were 30 years old. I can get better-tasting biryani (with vegetables, thankfully) with three types of vegetables for half the price elsewhere. The yoghurt portion given was also too little. It's very sad for tourists who are presented with food of this quality and quantity. It doesn't reflect well on Singapore.

The picture on the menu is not what you will get! I ordered from the machine, and it showed a big chicken leg for 21 SGD. I decided to buy it because I wanted to eat a chicken leg, but it turned out I only got a chicken breast. When I asked the staff, they responded that the picture is just for illustration. Please list it out that your pictures here are not real!

Reasonable price for those eating in MBS. The naan bread looks like pizza dough, not your typical naan. We ordered butter chicken; for me, it was just okay, but the servings were generous enough for two people to share.

I walked here from my accommodation, dripping in sweat and very hungry. It was quite yummy and the perfect pick-me-up for the day. I got a hot chai with three samosas, a deal I saw advertised on their menu.
