Hassan Stall stands as one of Singapore's oldest continuously operating food businesses, serving kampung-style Malay noodle dishes since 1959, predating even the construction of Changi Village Hawker Centre itself. Founded by the late Hassan from a makeshift extension of his kampung house, the stall survived urban redevelopment and generational transitions to remain a beloved institution now operated by his children Azman and Suzana in their late fifties and early sixties, with aunt Rokiah handling laksa and epok-epok preparations.

The menu embraces simplicity and consistency, offering laksa, mee siam, mee rebus, and lontong priced between three fifty and four dollars, maintaining affordability that honours the stall's working-class origins. These dishes represent core Malay comfort foods prepared using recipes refined across six decades, with no attempts to modernise or innovate beyond perfecting what has always worked. The kampung-style approach prioritises familiar flavours and generous portions over presentation or trendy ingredients, appealing to customers who remember Hassan's original stall and younger generations discovering authentic old-school Malay cooking.

Located at Changi Village Hawker Centre on Singapore's eastern coast, Hassan Stall serves residents, Pulau Ubin ferry passengers, and food tourists specifically seeking heritage hawker experiences. The stall's survival through Singapore's rapid transformation from kampung society to modern metropolis makes it a living connection to pre-independence food culture. For elderly customers, eating at Hassan Stall evokes memories of simpler times, while its continued operation demonstrates that quality, consistency, and fair pricing remain sufficient business models even amid Singapore's increasingly sophisticated and competitive food landscape.

My family highly recommended Hassan's Mee Rebus, however, I found the gravy to be so-so. I think it was due to their version being less sweet and more salty, which wasn't to my liking. Service was fast and friendly.

Yikes, the gravy was watery with zero lemak sweetness. Service was very good, though. Sad, as I had high hopes. Hope they can bring it back to its good standard. Thanks.

Personally, this wasn't the best lontong for me. The tofu was sourish. I asked for extra gravy, and the aunty charged me an extra 50 cents without informing me beforehand. Her attitude was also terrible. I tried it once, and I'll never go back!

This is an unassuming little stall with a hefty heritage. I've tried the lontong, mee rebus, and mee siam before and opted for laksa this time. It's a great alternative to Singapore laksa unless you're totally addicted to hae bee hiam (this appears to be the key difference between laksa from Northern Malaysia vs Singapore). Penang laksa and Sarawak laksa are not comparable.

My husband and I love the old-school taste of their lontong and mee siam. The lontong is light and tasty, and their mee siam reminds me of how I used to eat it at St Hilda's school tuck shop back in the 70s. It has a good mix of assam and peanut flavour. A must-try when you come to Changi Village food centre.

Love their lontong, always a hit and freshly made. It has a generous amount of vegetables and big tofu pieces, topped with an egg and lots of fried coconut.
