Operating from a basement stall, this establishment specialised in the striking blue pea rice dish that remains relatively uncommon outside Peninsular Malaysia's eastern states, offering an educational taste experience for local diners unfamiliar with this regional speciality.

The menu centred on nasi kerabu sets featuring vibrantly coloured blue rice accompanied by an array of traditional sides and protein choices. Signature offerings included Tiger Tears Beef, available in brisket or tenderloin cuts served with a tangy sweet-sour-spicy dipping sauce that lived up to its fierce name. Grilled options like Ayam Percik and honey-glazed chicken proved popular sellers alongside Ayam Goreng Berempah, each priced affordably between five and seven dollars. The combination of fresh herbs, kerisik, and sambal created flavour profiles distinctly different from Singapore's more common Malay dishes.

Located in the bustling Beach Road complex known for Malaysian fare, Kantan by The SIB's carved its niche by focusing on less-represented Pantai Timur cuisine.
