Kawan Bowl represents the innovative evolution of Singapore's hawker culture, emerging as DanLao's halal-certified sister concept that brilliantly merges traditional Asian flavors with modern bowl dining trends. Founded to address the growing demand for halal options among Singapore's diverse Muslim community, this establishment has strategically positioned itself across multiple food courts and hawker centers, including locations at Jurong Point, Anchorvale Village, and Pasir Ris Mall. The brand's name "Kawan," meaning friend in Malay, reflects its mission to create inclusive dining experiences that bring communities together over exceptional food.
The restaurant's signature concept revolves around customizable scrambled egg rice bowls, featuring uniquely Southeast Asian toppings like ayam berempah, beef rendang, sambal prawns, and taliwang chicken cutlet. Diners can personalize their experience by choosing between silken eggs, telur dadar (traditional omelette), or crispy fried eggs, with each bowl starting from an affordable $5.90. Standout dishes include the highly praised Sambal Prawn bowl ($7.90) and the fragrant Taliwang Chicken Cutlet, both celebrated for their perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors that complement the restaurant's signature fluffy scrambled eggs and savory sauce-doused rice.
Since obtaining full MUIS halal certification, Kawan Bowl has become a beacon of innovation within Singapore's halal dining scene, proving that traditional flavors can be successfully reimagined for modern tastes without losing their authentic essence. The establishment's success across multiple food court locations demonstrates the strong market demand for creative, affordable halal options that respect cultural food traditions while embracing contemporary dining trends. Kawan Bowl continues to expand its presence, solidifying its position as a pioneer in the new generation of halal hawker concepts that celebrate Singapore's multicultural culinary heritage.

Dishonest. The cashier told us that all the ayam rempah, prawn sambal, etc. on the menu were finished, leaving only deep-fried chicken cutlet and luncheon meat. However, after 30 minutes, I noticed other people ordering and receiving those dishes! Next time, please advise if there's a waiting time instead of simply saying they are sold out for the day!
Review on food: The scrambled eggs were way too oily, and the sambal was too sweet! The chicken cutlet tasted like a frozen one bought from FairPrice, especially the processed chicken texture.

Wanted to order ayam berempah but it was sold out at my visit on dinner time.
Ordered taliwang chic
Wanted to order ayam berempah, but it was sold out during my dinner visit. I ordered the taliwang chicken cutlet instead. I asked if the chicken was not spicy for my child to eat, and the staff said it wasn't. However, it was spicy even without the chili on it, so my child didn't eat it. Preparation was quick, taking only 2 minutes after ordering.

Was surprised to see all the ingredients pre-prepared and hanging out on a shelf. The food was cold and I wasn't able to finish it; this is not worth $6.90. Do yourself a favour and buy the hot food at any other stall here.

The scrambled egg is nothing to sing about. You barely notice it is there.
The chicken leg with rice
The scrambled egg is nothing to sing about; you barely notice it's there. The chicken leg with rice is decent at $6.90, but the rest of the menu seems overpriced for the amount of food you get.

Went over to give it a try and ordered the most popular item, the Ayam Rempah. The chicken was spiced and seasoned very well (delicious!), and the egg was excellent. Worth the time taken to give it a go!

Yummy and worth it! Each bowl of chicken, egg, and rice is so affordable and delicious. Their signature chicken is soooo fragrant. Each bite reminds me of Malaysian makan restaurants. Pair it with their rice doused in savoury sauce, and oh my, it's so homely and hearty.
The egg is also, oh my, so silky and tasty. So good to eat with the rice and chicken!
They have like 3 different types of chilli you can choose from! Some chilli is a bit too sweet, but nonetheless really good to pair with.
Lovely lady serving us that day too. Would definitely eat here again!

It’s not cheap, but you can enjoy this simple, tasty comfort food without having to cook at home.

This stall is located in a hawker centre on the 2nd floor of Anchorvale Village shopping centre, where the first floor houses the restaurants.
It has over 30 stalls and can accommodate 600 people. The ventilation is good, thanks to the high ceilings, open layout, and large High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) ceiling fans.
The prices are reasonable and the food quality is acceptable, though it can become a bit cloying:
$6.90
Ayam Panggang Egg Rice ($6.90)
Banana Leaf Otah Egg Rice ($6.90)
Sambal Prawn Egg Rice ($7.90)
Note that there's a long, hidden queue for food delivery orders, which can also lead to food items running out while you're physically queuing. To manage the delivery orders, they also precook many of the items, so the food may not be served warm.
Parking: There is a multi-storey car park (MSCP) right inside Anchorvale Village.
The kids' playground is located on Level 4 and can be reached via stairs from Level 3.
