Makan Melaka has carved out a distinctive niche in Singapore's dessert landscape by specializing in authentic Melaka-style cendol prepared using traditional methods that honor the heritage of this beloved Southeast Asian dessert. Located at 1 Changi Village Road, this halal establishment operates daily from 10:30am to 9:30pm, dedicating itself to perfecting the art of cendol preparation through meticulous attention to traditional techniques. The restaurant makes their cendol from scratch, patiently soaking the green rice flour noodles in water before serving, ensuring that each strand maintains the proper texture and doesn't harden when exposed to shaved ice, a testament to their commitment to authentic preparation methods.
The comprehensive cendol menu showcases remarkable variety while maintaining authentic Melaka flavors, featuring options such as traditional Cendol Asli Melaka, Red Bean, Sweet Corn, Pulut (Glutinous Rice), Durian, Special Red Bean and Corn, and the premium Special Power combination featuring red bean, corn, and durian. Each preparation is generously topped with quality gula melaka sourced directly from Malacca and rich santan (coconut milk) that creates the signature creamy sweetness characteristic of authentic cendol. The restaurant's dedication to using high-grade gula melaka and their generous portions of traditional toppings demonstrate their commitment to delivering genuine Melaka-style dessert experiences that transport diners to the historic streets of Malacca.
Makan Melaka's strategic location in Changi Village positions it as both a local neighborhood treasure and a destination for visitors seeking authentic regional desserts in Singapore's diverse culinary landscape. The establishment represents the preservation of traditional Peranakan and Malay dessert culture, bringing centuries-old recipes and preparation methods to modern Singapore while maintaining halal certification and accessibility. By focusing exclusively on perfecting cendol preparation rather than diversifying into unrelated menu items, Makan Melaka demonstrates specialization and authenticity that resonates with customers seeking genuine cultural food experiences in Singapore's increasingly globalized dining scene.

The service was very bad. My mom came yesterday to buy something, but no one attended to her. The staff saw her but ignored her. This is unacceptable. I believe we're not the only ones who have encountered this kind of attitude from your staff. How can you just walk away when you see a customer waiting at the counter?

The Nasi Lemak never came with sambal! It only had fried chicken, rice, and some ikan bilis. That's all. What kind of Nasi Lemak is that? I bought six packets for $40, and not one included sambal, which is essential for Nasi Lemak! What a waste.

The chendol tasted horrible. The gula melaka was bitter. We bought more than two cups and paid extra for each cup (takeaway). We couldn't consume all of it. Disappointing.

Sorry, but the $2.50 chendol wasn't good at all. What's worse is that take-away costs an extra 50 cents, which is shocking. This means it's $3.00 for the cup of chendol. Even food courts with air conditioning and much higher overheads don't charge like this. It's a rip-off!

The nasi lemak was so good! The beef rendang was tender and flavourful, and the coconut rice had some dried shredded coconut sprinkled on top. The chilli was a little on the sweet side, but it went well with the chicken.
