29 Aug My usual stall was closed, so I tried this stall behind. My standard order of 3 dishes: Beef Rendang, Sambal Goreng, and Vegetables. It was rather an underwhelming experience as only the bitter gourd was salted enough. The other two dishes seemed like a "healthier version"? Anyway, my order came up to $5.50.

Not a good nasi padang, and not even the best, but there's always a queue during weekends. I'm not sure if it's because Muslim food seems very overpriced and this store is still reasonable, or if it's the 'Indonesia authentic home-cooked' taste they have in their food. But overall, it's not to my liking, and personally, there's no need for the queue. Both makciks seem nice though...

Very value-for-money meals. Taste-wise, average.

Economical and big portions! $5.50 for Nasi Jaganan or Nasi Rawon. Nasi Jeganan comes with cuttlefish, begedil, tempeh, peanut sauce with bean sprouts and long beans, sambal chilli, and paru. Remember to request to remove paru if you don't eat beef. The sauce could be warmer, though. The overall taste is okay; I wish it could be richer and more flavourful. The lontong is always sold out before lunch, I haven't even tried it yet! Worth a try if there's no queue. I doubt I'll patronise and wait if there is a queue!

This place is awesome. For 5 SGD, you get a wholesome meal. Although it's not the absolute best, the quantity and price make up for it. I'm most impressed by its tempeh, even though I'm not usually a tempeh person. It has a nice grilled taste. The cuttlefish and paru have good flavour. The rice, soaked with beef gravy and beef bits, is a good, soft compliment to the impressive assortment of sides. The ladies at the stall are very friendly and helpful. The reason it wasn't 5 stars is that it didn't quite take my breath away. It's good, but not overwhelmingly so.

The rice sets are pretty good, or what locals call nasi padang. For mornings, I always have their Lontong, which consists of pieces of rice cakes with long beans, fried coconut flesh shavings (locals call it ‘serunding’), one boiled chicken egg in a rich coconut broth with spices. It's topped with a sweet and spicy chili paste sauce. Best of all, it costs only 3 local bucks and tastes so good. Oh, this Lontong entrée also includes a piece of fried tau kwa, which is fried soya bean curd. Service is generally good. Three elderly ladies mostly man this local hawker food stall.

One of the most economical nasi Padang in Spore. As pictured, it was only $5.50!! July 2023: Price increased to $6.00 now for the same combination. May 25: Price increased to $7.00 for the same combination. Rendang $3, sotong $2, acar $1 & rice $1.
