Rosy & Nora stands as a beloved institution in Singapore's hawker scene, operating for over 35 years as a family-run, Muslim-owned halal food stall that has become synonymous with authentic Malay and Indonesian comfort food. Located at the bustling Haig Road Food Centre (#01-15), this iconic stall has built an unwavering reputation for serving traditional favorites that transport diners to the heart of Southeast Asian home cooking.

The crown jewel of Rosy & Nora's menu is their legendary Roti John, a uniquely Singaporean creation that perfectly embodies the multicultural spirit of local cuisine. Their version features a halved French baguette dipped in a seasoned omelette mixture with soft caramelized onions, then dry-fried until golden and crispy. The bread is generously spread with spiced minced mutton that carries subtle curry notes, creating a harmony of textures and flavors that has kept customers returning for decades.

Beyond their famous Roti John, Rosy & Nora excels in the art of popiah preparation, offering both Popiah Goreng (fried spring rolls) and Popiah Basah (fresh spring rolls) that showcase the stall's mastery of traditional techniques. Their Popiah Goreng features crispy golden wrappers filled with fresh vegetables and savory ingredients, while the fresh version provides a lighter, healthier option packed with crunchy vegetables and flavorful sauces.

The menu also features Ball Kentang, described as a comforting Indonesian home-style dish combining juicy potato and meat balls with refreshing vegetables in a tasty broth that evokes memories of family dinners. During evening service, the stall expands their offerings to include burgers and samosas with ample filling, demonstrating their versatility in both traditional and contemporary comfort foods.

Operating daily from 2:00pm to 10:00pm, Rosy & Nora maintains the authentic hawker experience with its consistently long queues – a testament to the quality and popularity of their offerings. The friendly auntie who runs the stall has become part of the charm, greeting regular customers with warmth while efficiently serving up steaming plates of nostalgia. Their house-made chili sauce perfectly balances sweet, sour, and spicy elements, complementing every dish and adding that essential kick that hawker food lovers crave.

At Rosy & Nora, every dish represents the preservation of traditional recipes passed down through generations, served with the genuine hospitality that makes Singapore's hawker culture so special. Whether you're seeking a quick lunch, satisfying dinner, or simply want to experience authentic local flavors, this humble stall delivers big on taste, tradition, and value.

Came from overseas and took a cab $20 all the way to Haig Road to get their food, only to find out they only accept cash and there's NO ATM around the place to withdraw from. So very utterly disappointed. In this day and age, please offer other payment options, especially knowing that the cash withdrawal facility that was once nearby has been removed. Not just locals would like to try your food.

I travelled all the way to support a local food court, only to be surprised that they only accept cash. I looked around the area, but there was no ATM nearby, so unfortunately I couldn’t make a purchase. In this day and age, it’s surprising to see a shop that still doesn’t accept any other form of payment.

The quality of the popiah has slackened so much. Very disappointed. The popiah skin was so hard and it got harder as it cooled. I had to soak it in sambal to soften it.

Had kentang balls as a takeaway. Service was quick; the auntie had already prepared my food and packed it while I was taking out my money. Please note that they accept CASH ONLY . The kentang balls are big and filling, and the soup is savoury and spicy.

1. The samosa was excellent. I would come back just for this; it was perfectly made. 2. The Roti John was just okay. I wouldn't order it again. The sauce was nice, but the main dish itself was... filling. I can't say more, really. It was nondescript. 3. This hawker centre is incredibly friendly (a huge positive). I love talking to random people here. However, it is dirty and dark (a huge negative).

A very popular aunties' store with always a long queue. I love their Popia Goreng and Popiah Basar, as well as the Kentang Ball. The Kentang ball is made from mummy's recipe of Nora's, featuring a juicy potato & meat ball with refreshing veggies and a tasty broth. It's an Indonesian home meal. Recommended.
