Shami Banana Leaf Delights stands as a distinguished halal-certified Indian restaurant chain that has grown from humble beginnings as a small biryani stall in Northpoint shopping mall to become a respected name across multiple Singapore locations including Causeway Point, Century Square, Northpoint City, and Sembawang Road. This evolution reflects the restaurant's commitment to authentic Indian cuisine while adapting to Singapore's diverse dining preferences and expanding accessibility to quality halal Indian food.
The restaurant specializes in authentic Indian biryani served with either mutton or chicken, alongside an impressive array of traditional dishes that showcase the rich culinary heritage of the Indian subcontinent. Their must-have offerings include aromatic mutton (bone) curry and masala chicken, with their chicken biryani earning particular acclaim for its rich, thickened dry curry sauce prepared masala-style. The restaurant occasionally features special items like flower crabs, demonstrating their commitment to variety and seasonal offerings.
Shami Banana Leaf Delights has successfully positioned itself as an accessible yet authentic Indian dining destination, with meals averaging around $9.50 that provide adequate portions for adult diners. The restaurant's popularity often results in crowds, particularly during peak hours, testament to their reputation for delivering genuine Indian flavors in well-ventilated, comfortable environments with pleasant and attentive staff service that enhances the overall dining experience.

Stay far, far away from the Northpoint outlet. The food is not even substandard. The boneless chicken is not boneless, the rice is mushy in places, and the mutton curry I received feels like someone upturned an entire bag of garam masala into it in the name of making it "mutton curry". Absolutely appalling quality of food, and super expensive. All that you see on the plate cost me $18, which I wouldn't mind paying if the food tasted even a little bit good. The standard for this outlet has dropped far beyond repair.

I had a bad experience today at the food stall. The lady serving, who was wearing big glasses, was extremely rude and biased towards me. I ordered two plates of mutton biryani, but she gave me a very small quantity of rice. When I asked her about it, she was very rude and said it was only one scoop, implying I had to order more for extra quantity. However, I wasn't even given one scoop. She was very biased and racist towards me. I prefer the Causeway Point shop much better than this. I wish someone would teach that service lady a lesson.

First time trying this stall at Kopitiam Northpoint. The boneless mutton biryani was nice to eat, but the gravy was too spicy for me.

Bought their briyani on 3/6 around 4pm. The lady serving me showed attitude by slamming the plate after I told her that I wanted the meat packed separately. My mum ate it later for breakfast at 7pm. Anyway, it will be my first and last time buying from them.

I just had the fried fish biryani and to my horror, the fish was fishy, either due to not being fresh or not washed properly. It was horrendous and I was outraged, but I didn't inform the stall. I'm posting this here because I'm hoping they see this review and improve. I go to the same restaurant at Sembawang Cottage, which is in front of my house, and the fish there is fine. It was a seriously awful experience; I took the first bite and stopped eating the fish. I ended up eating leftover chicken from my daughter's chicken rice. I literally spent nearly $10 on biryani rice and achar.

I recently dined here and had a bit of a mixed experience. I chose to order a few à la carte items, but I was told I had to pick a set and then add on, even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish the full set. I explained that I was happy to pay the full price but preferred to skip the extras to avoid food waste. They still charged me accordingly, which I respect, as I understand every place has its own rules and pricing structure.
However, on my way out, I noticed another table had ordered full sets and had a significant amount of food left over. It made me wonder if there’s a more flexible way to approach portioning or set orders, especially for smaller appetites. Perhaps a smaller set option or a more flexible ordering policy could help reduce unnecessary waste while still honoring the pricing model.
Overall, the food was enjoyable, but I do hope the restaurant considers ways to better balance customer preferences with sustainability. Thank you!

Tasting the best ever halal biryani rice in Singapore. Their rice is light and packed with flavour. Even a plateful of rice can be filling. Their chicken sambal is tenderly cooked and a tasty delight. Masala fish with biryani, even in frozen form, can be well eaten in the US during a freezing December period. Now that's marvellous eating for a food galore!! ‼️😋
