Really not worth the price.
No sashimi, no oysters.
Crabs were only available on the cooked food side. The cold seafood area only had crayfish, prawns, and clams.
Cooking food stations like the satay, otah, and chicken wings constantly had a queue. The supply was much slower than the demand.
Dessert was also quite pathetic: chendol, fruits, orh nee, sweet potato with coconut milk, and some kueh.
For the price, I'd rather spend $40 at any hawker centre and come away feeling I had better food for a more reasonable price.

Made a group reservation for a company dinner, and the service was disappointing. I couldn't confirm the exact number of guests as it was a bit last minute for the attendees. The hotel initially told me there could be an allowance of 2 pax no-show. Unfortunately, one of my colleagues couldn't join at the last minute, leaving me short of 3 pax from the original booking. We were ready to pay for the third no-show, but the hotel then informed me they needed to charge me for 3 no-shows. After some negotiation with my other 2 colleagues, they finally agreed to waive it off. The hotel also arranged for our large group to be split into 2 tables (not a concern), separated by a "wall of pillars" (?!). Overall, the selection wasn't extensive, but the food generally tasted good, especially the soup, which most colleagues raved about. Most of the food I tried that night was nice, except for the otah and a few other items. Perhaps I can come back with a smaller group to enjoy the buffet better.

Superb food. I indulged in all the local dishes, and every item was top-notch. I was pleasantly surprised by the authentic flavours of the Laksa, which was my top pick of the night.

StraitsKitchen Singapore is definitely my top go-to place for a large variety of Southeast Asian cuisine in Singapore. This restaurant almost entirely focuses on creating the best local dishes with unique local ingredients that cannot be found elsewhere. Firstly, the restaurant is located within the Grand Hyatt Singapore in Orchard, making it a very convenient place to visit with many public transport stations nearby. The restaurant staff are very attentive and frequently check in on guests to collect plates and cater to service requests. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant is modern and clean, with a design touch that reflects the cuisine it focuses on. Lastly, not only is the food very high quality, but there is also a wide selection of different dishes, allowing patrons to get a good taste of Southeast Asian cuisine. Overall, I strongly recommend trying out StraitsKitchen for a solid meal in Singapore!

Returned to StraitsKitchen for the first time since the reopening of the Grand Hyatt, and I was glad to see my favourite buffet in the world remains as good as ever! For visitors to Singapore, StraitsKitchen is my pick amongst the many excellent buffets due to its focus on local cuisine. The multiple open kitchens feature Malay, Chinese, and Indian cuisine, allowing diners to taste everything in one place! I would recommend exploring all the different open kitchens and trying something new. Service was top-notch, very friendly and attentive.

Finally came back to dine at StraitsKitchen again after a fairly long renovation hiatus. StraitsKitchen has definitely maintained, if not even improved, the standards and quality of their food. Their Asian-centric array of dishes covers Indian, Chinese, Malay, Indonesian, and recently (due to Ramadan) even Middle Eastern. Their dishes were all fantastic - well-seasoned, bursting with flavour, and grilled/steamed well. I especially love their Chicken/Duck Rice station, as well as the satay. Their Indian section has long been my favourite by far - the butter chicken is thick and fragrant, the tandoori chicken grilled well, and the naan well-buttered and soft. Their Middle Eastern dips were very nice, but perhaps the pita breads provided could have been a bit softer. The drink spread had a wide variety, especially their hot drinks.
One significant improvement from the last time I visited here (about 2 years ago) is definitely the service. While service here used to be pretty average, the staff were fantastic this time. They made the effort to provide me with the best birthday celebration I could have. Clearing of plates and cups was consistent and effortless. They were clear in their communication and service. I even noticed some of them putting in the effort to walk some guests all the way to the prayer room from the restaurant.
Overall, while buffet experiences can vary and are subjective, StraitsKitchen has a solid offering and definitely stands out among the halal buffet scene in Singapore. It definitely helps that the restaurant and hotel prayer rooms are beautiful, with clean and ambient aesthetics that provide a cozy experience.
