Overall, the dishes carried the familiar Indonesian flavours, but I felt the food could have been better, especially considering the price point. I was also surprised by how small the portions were for the Soto Ayam ($7) and Sayur Lodeh ($13) specifically, which were both served in what looked like mini side dish bowls (as shown in the picture).

The beef rendang was a bit hard and quite salty, needing to be eaten with rice. The hot lemongrass water was too sweet. The food was generally nice. However, the service was slow and the staff's attitude was not good. We went around 1 pm on a weekday when it was less crowded. I'm not sure if it was our seating location, but they didn't even bother to look in our direction to see if we required any assistance.

Ordered my usual: Beef rendang, prawn crackers, Soto Ayam, and yellow rice. However, the taste and quality here weren't as good as I've had at Jewel. The portions are consistently small, just right for one to two people per dish. The sambal chilli was good though. Other than that, service was okay, and the restaurant was very clean and neat.

Okay Indonesian food. The best dish for me was tahu telur. The sauce was too salty, attacking the tongue. The gado gado and lontong had a good mix of vegetables, and you can order the sauce on the side, so it feels healthy eating these dishes, although probably not meant to be eaten like this. Haha. I found a piece of short hair on a cucumber at the bottom of my lontong dish, but I didn't mind it.

The food was really disappointing. We used to frequent the other outlet in Orchard/Somerset, so I wanted to bring my in-laws here to try it out, but it was such a letdown. The rice was served in a small pot, and although we ordered for 4 people, it was honestly only enough for 2. The fish was also not fresh at all. We ordered ikan bakar but it was steamed. The service was poor, really not like the other outlet.

We recently hosted our company lunch for 40 people at Tambuah Mas Indonesian Restaurant, and it was a wonderful experience. The team handled our large group with remarkable efficiency and warmth, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious – authentic Indonesian flavours, generous portions, and beautifully presented. The restaurant’s cozy, welcoming atmosphere made the lunch feel both celebratory and comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Indonesian cuisine, whether for an intimate meal or a large corporate gathering.

Nice. However, the Soto Ayam was a bit too salty. I asked the staff and was told it's authentic and supposed to go with rice. Personally, I found the black sauce on the Tahu Telor and fried squids a bit too sweet, so it shouldn't be drizzled too much. The Chendol and avocado drink could be improved further.

Newly opened in Jewel… Tambuah Mas’ signature Tahu Telor is a classic that still impresses after all these years – crispy and eggy on the outside, tender within, and served with a luscious dark sweet sauce that hits the perfect sweet balance. A must-try for fans of rich, nostalgic Indonesian flavours. Personally, I feel they could cut back on the salt for the Kangkong Belacan and Beef Rendang; both dishes were already rich and flavourful on their own.

We had another lunch on June 16th, still enjoying the same dishes. The staff was kind enough to give me a complimentary dessert when paying the bill. Yesterday, June 30th, was another yummy lunch. We had another great dinner tonight, December 6th, 2024, with more people and more food – a nice get-together.
