The Malayan Council represents the pinnacle of halal fine dining in Singapore, masterfully blending traditional Malay heritage with contemporary culinary innovation across six distinctive outlets, each offering unique ambiances and specialized menus. This prestigious restaurant group has redefined Malay-Western fusion cuisine, creating an elevated dining experience that honors cultural roots while embracing modern gastronomy.

Each location tells its own story: the original Dunlop Street outlet provides an intimate, homely atmosphere perfect for casual gatherings and houses the renowned TMC Bakery, famous for freshly baked cakes and pastries. The Bussorah Street location in culturally rich Kampong Glam offers an authentic heritage setting, while the Esplanade Mall outlet (#02-14) provides sophisticated dining with stunning Marina Bay views, ideal for pre-theatre dinners and special occasions. The flagship Fullerton Waterboat House location delivers lavish halal buffet experiences perfect for family celebrations and corporate events, and the riverside Clarke Quay outlet brings Western-style café culture to the Singapore River.

The Malayan Council's menu showcases culinary artistry through signature dishes that celebrate Southeast Asian flavors with contemporary techniques. Their famous Roti Kirai Beef Ribs feature slow-cooked, fall-off-the-bone beef complemented by aromatic spices and traditional flatbread. The Smoked Duck Lemak Chili Padi presents tender duck in a rich, creamy coconut-based sauce with a fiery kick, while the Lamb Shank Soup Tulang offers comfort food elevated to fine dining standards with bone marrow richness and aromatic herbs.

Modern interpretations of classics include their gourmet TMC Burger, featuring premium halal beef with Malaysian-inspired condiments, and the beloved Classic Ondeh-Ondeh Cake that transforms the traditional kueh into an elegant dessert. The menu spans from traditional Nasi Ambeng and Nasi Kerabu to contemporary pasta dishes, premium steaks, and truffle fries, ensuring diverse palates are satisfied.

Operating from 11am to 11pm (last order 10:30pm) across most locations, The Malayan Council caters to various dining occasions from business lunches to romantic dinners. Their commitment to using the freshest halal-certified ingredients ensures every dish meets both religious requirements and gourmet standards. Not sure why it's so highly rated when the food is only average. It tasted like a homemade meal, even though it certainly doesn't cost like one! I ordered the wagyu beef udon for myself, and it definitely did not taste or feel like wagyu (it was tough). So disappointed, as I brought a friend from overseas to eat at this place.

The first thing that caught all our eyes was the PAN SEARED OCEAN COD ($49)! I’m glad to say that the picture did it justice because the fish with spiced coconut red curry surpassed all our expectations. The fish was perfectly cooked and flaked off beautifully. The portions at The Malayan Council are always huge, so we didn’t order any appetisers to share. We always have a hard time finishing our mains/pastas. We also ordered: SMOKED DUCK CHILLI PADI ($32) Signature pasta with homemade lemak chilli padi sauce. TMC MEE BANDUNG ($39) Linguine with homemade chili paste, served with sous vide egg. For desserts we had: ORANGE CRUMBLE PIE ($13.80) Rarely see any place with orange crumble! The flavour profile is nice, but I wished the crumble was crispier. TEH TARIK CHENDOL PANNA COTTA ($16.80) Doused with gula melaka and served with teh tarik ice cream. CLASSIC ONDEH-ONDEH CAKE (complimentary) One of the must-order cakes here!

Came by around 12 for a booking we had. My party was running late, so I wanted to sit first. It seemed like they were quite understaffed, as one person was managing a table at the corner and another was getting drinks done. I stood at the counter for a couple of minutes before I was attended to after flagging down one of them – not a great start. That aside, the service was pleasant for the rest of the meal. The day we were there, the fishes were not available, which was a huge letdown since a few of us wanted to order fish. I was looking forward to trying the halibut :( I ended up going for the smoked duck chilli padi. The utensils were a bit hard to use with the linguini, but overall the dish was very interesting! It was an interesting combination that I haven't had elsewhere. We got the cakes afterwards and tried the chocolate ovomaltine, which was nice. They gave us a classic ondeh cake for free! After paying, they also gave us another cake to take home. All in all, the bill came up to ~$550 for 8 of us. It was priced at a premium, but I expected that from the moment I walked in. Good for a business meal.

My friend, Ling, and I had dinner here to celebrate her birthday. The service staff, Darry and Junaidi, made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. On top of that, Darry took the initiative to ask if we were celebrating any special occasion and upon hearing it was for a birthday, offered a complimentary slice of cake. We were pleasantly surprised by the gesture. Thank you for making this evening so enjoyable. By the way, the oneh oneh cake was delicious! - Oli & Ling :) :)

A must-visit for halal food lovers in Singapore! Dropped by The Malayan Council at Esplanade Mall and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The ambience is beautiful, cozy, elegant, and perfect for a relaxed meal or special occasion. Tried several items on the menu including the Salmon Tacos, Tropical Harvest Chicken Salad, Grilled Ribeye Volcano Pasta, and the Ultimate Lobster Gourmet. The presentation was stunning and portions were generous. Service was attentive and friendly, even during the dinner rush. Bonus points for how thoughtful the staff were; they even surprised another table with a birthday cake, which was such a wholesome moment. Prices are on the premium side, but totally worth it for the quality, halal assurance, and overall dining experience. Would definitely recommend booking in advance, especially on weekends.
