Waker Chicken represents Singapore's most authentic Korean fried chicken experience, brought to local shores through the passionate collaboration of Korean co-founders Noh Tae Woo and Kim Jinho, who partnered with Singaporean Muslim entrepreneur Dan to create an inclusive dining concept that makes genuine Korean flavors accessible to Singapore's diverse religious communities. With multiple heartland locations across Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Clementi, Holland Drive, Sengkang, Tampines, and Yishun, Waker Chicken has strategically positioned itself in neighborhood kopitiam settings that make premium Korean fried chicken a part of everyday local dining culture rather than special occasion restaurant experiences. Their complete halal certification represents a groundbreaking achievement in Singapore's Korean food landscape, ensuring that the Muslim community can finally access authentic Korean fried chicken prepared according to traditional methods while meeting strict religious dietary requirements.

The carefully crafted menu at Waker Chicken showcases four signature flavor profiles that represent authentic Korean fried chicken traditions: Original Crispy that emphasizes the perfect balance of crunchy exterior and succulent interior, Sweet Spicy featuring traditional yangnyeom sauce with Korean chili-based complexity, Soy Sauce preparations that demonstrate subtle umami depth, and their standout Honey Butter variety that has become a customer favorite through its perfect fusion of sweet and savory elements. Each chicken is fresh, never frozen, and undergoes overnight seasoning and brining processes that ensure maximum flavor penetration before being fried to order, requiring 20-minute wait times that guarantee piping-hot, crispy-exterior results with juicy, tender meat that justifies the premium positioning despite heartland locations. The pricing structure—ranging from $13-15 for half portions (7 pieces) to $25-28 for whole chickens (14 pieces)—reflects their commitment to authentic preparation methods while maintaining accessibility for Singapore families seeking quality Korean dining experiences.

Waker Chicken's success lies in their unwavering commitment to authenticity combined with inclusive accessibility, proving that traditional Korean culinary techniques can be preserved while serving Singapore's multicultural community through halal certification and neighborhood positioning. Their founder's personal connection to the brand—Kim's uncle owned the original Korean operation—ensures that recipes and techniques remain faithful to authentic Korean standards, while their partnership with local Muslim entrepreneurs demonstrates successful cultural bridge-building that benefits both Korean food preservation and community inclusion. The brand's emphasis on fresh ingredients, made-to-order preparation, and traditional overnight brining processes, combined with their strategic heartland locations that make Korean fried chicken part of everyday kopitiam culture, has established them as pioneers who prove that authentic international cuisines can successfully adapt to local contexts while maintaining cultural integrity and serving diverse communities with genuine respect and quality.

There was a long wait time of 20 minutes after ordering on a weekday at 11:30 PM. The rice was pretty good, but the sweet and spicy chicken, while crispy, was way too sweet, almost ketchupy in taste. The fries were decent too. The price is a little steep compared to other offerings in the kopitiam.

TLDR: Should have just eaten KFC downstairs ‍♂️ $8.5 for a 3-piece chicken rice set. In fairness, I asked for the rice to be replaced with some coleslaw, but it seems the store owner just removed my rice completely and that was it. Other points: - The 'pieces' were effectively 1/2 to 1/4 pieces, meaning I got about 1.5 pieces of chicken. - The chicken was warm, not hot. - No option to mix flavours.

Disappointing. I waited for 30 minutes and this is what I received. There weren't many people ordering! They told me they had a new cook, so he was slow. I decided not to write a review, but guess what? This is what I got when I reached home: the wrong order! I ordered for 3 pieces of chicken. Sorry, I won't be going back again. Thanks, Waker Chicken.

Not impressive. The rice was too mushy, the fries too oily, and the tenders too bland. The portion size was also too little. This seems consistent with other reviews. There was no option without rice, nor any alternative or suggestion offered.

I've ordered Waker chicken from BP Plaza via delivery a few times. The first time was the best, with the chicken still hot when we received it at home. The subsequent experiences weren't as good. We had to reheat the chicken in the oven upon receiving it, as the food was not even lukewarm. Eventually, we decided to go down to BP Plaza to collect it ourselves, but we were disappointed again as the food we received on the spot was also cold.

Interesting spin on Korean food and fried chicken! Ordered the 3pcs chicken with kimchi sauce pasta. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Price is standard ($9.5) for the food. Worth trying if you are around in the food court. However, my only complaint is that the chicken served wasn’t exactly “freshly fried”. It wasn’t crispy and was only somewhat warm.

The waiting time was a bit long. The staff told me it would be a 10-minute wait, but I ended up waiting about 25 minutes. The chicken tasted decent. Set E4 cost $8.50. Edit on 5 Mar: I gave them a Google review and received free fries as a side.

Waker Chicken is a familiar name in the Korean fried chicken scene, and my recent visit reaffirmed why it continues to draw loyal fans. This time, I tried their Soy Sauce Half Chicken, which comes with 7 pieces—drumsticks, wings, and chunky cuts of thigh meat. The first thing that stood out was the aroma—a fragrant, slightly sweet soy glaze layered over golden-brown crispiness. The chicken was well-marinated, with the soy sauce penetrating all the way to the bone. Each bite was incredibly flavorful, striking a nice balance between sweet and savory without being overly salty. Texture-wise, Waker Chicken nailed it. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the freshness of the meat was evident. The skin had a satisfying crunch, holding its structure well without being greasy. If you’re looking for a dependable, affordable fix for Korean fried chicken cravings in a hawker setting, Waker Chicken continues to deliver. I’ll definitely be back to try the other flavors—Sweet Spicy, perhaps next. Highly recommended for: casual comfort food lovers, fried chicken enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys a punchy marinade done right.

Tastes great even with takeaway. Honey butter is our absolute favourite!!! You can skip the butter rice and fries and just order the chicken though. Wished the waiting time could be shorter, but I understand that a wait is expected for freshly fried batches of chicken. Well done and keep it up!
