Alhambra Satay stands as a legendary culinary institution in Singapore, proudly carrying forward the rich heritage of the original Singapore Satay Club that began in the late 1940s. As one of the last surviving establishments from this historical era, Alhambra Satay represents an authentic link to Singapore traditional street food culture, offering diners the opportunity to experience genuine Indonesian-style satay prepared using time-honored recipes and techniques passed down through generations.
This Muslim-owned halal-certified restaurant operates multiple strategic locations across Singapore, including the famous Lau Pa Sat Satay Street at 18 Raffles Quay Stall 3, the bustling Geylang Serai Market and Food Centre at 1 Geylang Serai #02-145, and Circuit Road at 79 Circuit Road #01-02. The restaurant specializes in traditional satay featuring premium cuts of beef, chicken, and mutton, each carefully marinated in a proprietary blend of spices that reflects authentic Indonesian flavors. Every skewer is hand-threaded and grilled over glowing charcoal fires, ensuring the perfect balance of smoky char and tender juiciness that defines exceptional satay. The preparation process adheres to traditional methods, with each piece of meat receiving individual attention to achieve consistent quality and flavor.
Beyond their signature satay offerings, Alhambra Satay serves a comprehensive menu of traditional Malay dishes including aromatic Mee Rebus with its rich, tangy gravy, refreshing Gado-Gado featuring mixed vegetables with peanut dressing, and various other local specialties that complement the satay experience. This diverse menu makes it an ideal destination for groups seeking to explore multiple aspects of Southeast Asian cuisine.
The Geylang Serai location operates Sunday through Friday from 9:30am to 7:45pm and Saturday from 8:30am to 7:45pm, providing convenient access for both lunch and dinner crowds. The strategic positioning within established food centers ensures ample seating and a vibrant social dining atmosphere that enhances the overall experience.

Bought 1 set of mee rebus special, which comes with an additional 3 sticks of satay. The serving portion was small, like a primary school bowl. The gravy was watery and tasteless, and for that, I was charged $8. The owner, an old man who looks experienced in food handling, may have lost his golden touch.

Really bad satay. The meat is tough and not cooked properly. I ordered chicken and beef but was given lamb and beef instead. The order was written by the hawker on a whiteboard, but they still got the order wrong. Do not recommend buying from this stall.

The lady handled food without protection, the satay was uncooked, and it was served on dirty plates. Never, ever eat there again! Beware of this stall in Geylang Serai.

Worst satay ever. See my Tripadvisor review. Should avoid this stall in geylang serai at all cost.
Worst satay ever. Please see my Tripadvisor review. You should avoid this stall in Geylang Serai at all costs. The satay meat was not cooked well and was on the hard side. Perhaps they use the cheapest animal parts for their satay. They add fat in between the meat pieces, presumably to make fast bucks. This style of inserting fat is usually seen in Malaysia and Indonesia. This is the first time I've encountered this standard at a stall in Singapore. If you ask for extra gravy, the lady will charge you extra. I bought it home for iftar and was disappointed with the standard. My kids didn't want to eat it as the meat was hard. First and last time. THIS INFO IS FOR THE STALL HOLDER: PLEASE DO NOT SELL LOW-STANDARD FOOD, OR ELSE JUST CLOSE SHOP AND F/O.

I always eat satay at Alhambra and have noticed that the quality has gone down a bit. The beef and mutton satay are tough, but the chicken satay is A-grade (soft and tasty).
The peanut gravy is thick, but the taste isn't as good as I've tasted before! 😥 It spoiled my expectation. I came all the way from Balestier Road with the intention of eating satay, but alas... 😩😩
When Zi did a little 'marketing', everything was fine, no complaints. 👍

Quite a nice satay in Geylang, with good lemongrass and turmeric flavour and a delicate char. They were accommodating, allowing me to have a mee rebus served with 3 satay for $5, a combo they don't normally offer on their menu.
