A&W Restaurants has made a successful comeback to Singapore's fast-food scene with its halal-certified outlets, bringing the iconic American brand to Muslim diners across the island. The Woodlands Avenue 6 location, specifically at 677 Woodlands Avenue 6, represents part of A&W's strategic expansion in Singapore, operating alongside other outlets including one at Admiralty Place. The return of A&W to Singapore has been met with enthusiasm from both nostalgic customers who remember the brand from its previous incarnation and new customers discovering its classic American fast-food offerings for the first time.

The menu at A&W Singapore features the brand's classic American favorites, all prepared according to strict halal standards to cater to Singapore's Muslim population. Signature items include the famous Root Beer Float served in a frosty mug with vanilla ice cream, the Mozza Burger with two beef patties and mozzarella cheese, and the Cream Cheese Chicken Burger. The restaurant also offers crispy fried chicken, Coney Dogs, and sides like Curly Fries and Onion Rings. What makes A&W particularly special is its fresh, made-to-order Root Beer, which provides a unique taste experience that sets it apart from other fast-food chains in Singapore.

The restaurant's commitment to halal certification, combined with its classic American menu and efficient service, has made it a popular destination for families and fast-food enthusiasts seeking halal options. The Woodlands outlet operates daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, providing convenient access to quality halal American fast food in Singapore's northern region. With its modern kiosk-based ordering system and focus on maintaining good queue management, A&W has successfully adapted to contemporary fast-food trends while preserving the nostalgic appeal that made the brand beloved in the first place, making it a significant addition to Singapore's diverse halal dining landscape.

The food was not nice. The curly fries were too salty and the root beer was too bland. There was nothing special about the coney dog and mozzarella burger. When I was almost finished with my root beer, I noticed something at the bottom of my glass. I hope it wasn't cockroach droppings...

Maybe it's me, but I found the coney dog sauce quite different from A&W Malaysia. It tasted a bit light or watered down, which was strange! The root beer float was fine, though, and the onion rings were great. Another minus was the long wait and queue time. They may need to implement other forms of ordering, like self-order kiosks (similar to McDonald's and Burger King), to speed things up, as it is fast food after all.

It's been a long time since I had A&W. For sure, the burgers have shrunk (similar to all other burger places), but it was still a good experience. I can't quite understand their outlet design and customer process, though.

The Cream Cheese Beef Burger was delicious. The beef patty was juicy and tender, with a generous amount of cream cheese and lots of caramelised onions. My order was served in less than 5 minutes after placing it via the kiosk, which was very impressive. However, none of the staff were smiling when I interacted with them; they all seemed expressionless. A smile wouldn't cost anything when serving customers.

It's been a while since I had an A&W burger and root beer float. I am from the era when A&W was new to Singapore. The burgers and hotdogs didn't really captivate me, but their chicken pieces were the best. Back in the day, you could choose the type of pieces you wanted – drumsticks or thighs – and you didn't have to pay extra. The size of the chicken pieces would dwarf any chicken today, especially KFC. Anyway, the burger was a little small but tasted as it should. The curly fries were only warm and got cold really quickly. As for the float, hmm, it was not too bad. The quality of the ice cream could be more premium for a creamier and wholesome taste. Overall, just okay!

Good food, conveniently located on Level 1 opposite the MRT. Had the mozza burger, fried chicken, and cheeseburger. The mozza burger is awesome, with a great portion and lots of vegetables. The fried chicken is a little salty, but overall very tasty and yummy. Best part is that curly fries are served, along with a huge root beer float. The mug is just satisfying to drink from. Service is decent. At an estimated $10 per pax, it’s alright. Standards are above McDonald's, and slightly below Shake Shack. Will return.

Good things sometimes do come in small packages. I had seen pretty mixed reviews of this A&W joint prior to trying, but was delighted by the overall experience. The shop was quite small compared to other branches like Jewel and Jurong Point. However, one is provided with good service from ordering, drinks & food collection, and up till tray return. The ordering experience was courteous and not pushy to buy more add-ons. The A&W float was perhaps the coldest ever tried, with a generous dollop of vanilla ice cream. I could still feel the cold chill 10 minutes after finishing the drink. The coney dog sausages were nice and served on a steamed soft bun. The curly fries were not oily as experienced in other branches. While having my meal, I could see the counter servers preparing multiple oil catchment sheets on the paper tray during a light crowd period at around 11 am. While preparing to return two trays (one for glass mugs, the other for paper packages), a cleaner uncle came to help with one of them. Keep up the good work, Bididari A&W team!

A great place to have a meal and rest after exploring the bird exhibition all day. We enjoyed the nostalgic root beer, chicken, burger, and waffle. The service was efficient too; they served the drinks first while we waited for our meals. Kudos to the A&W team.

I had been craving their chicken for quite some time. It's usually crowded at other outlets, but there was no queue here when I visited for a snack around 5 pm. I like their fried chicken; it was crispy even though it had a thin flour coating. Their root beer was so refreshing. It came without ice, and the glass was cold. It was nice. Only curly fries were available on the menu. They were okay, not that crispy, but still good. Collection of orders was a bit scattered. I collected my drink straight away near the counter, waffles behind the counter, and food outside the eating area at their food collection counter. Condiments were located in another area as well. I was given two beepers for one order, one for the waffles and one for the food.
