A&W Restaurants has made a successful comeback to Singapore's fast-food scene with its halal-certified outlets, bringing the iconic American brand to Muslim diners across the island. The Woodlands Avenue 6 location, specifically at 677 Woodlands Avenue 6, represents part of A&W's strategic expansion in Singapore, operating alongside other outlets including one at Admiralty Place. The return of A&W to Singapore has been met with enthusiasm from both nostalgic customers who remember the brand from its previous incarnation and new customers discovering its classic American fast-food offerings for the first time.

The menu at A&W Singapore features the brand's classic American favorites, all prepared according to strict halal standards to cater to Singapore's Muslim population. Signature items include the famous Root Beer Float served in a frosty mug with vanilla ice cream, the Mozza Burger with two beef patties and mozzarella cheese, and the Cream Cheese Chicken Burger. The restaurant also offers crispy fried chicken, Coney Dogs, and sides like Curly Fries and Onion Rings. What makes A&W particularly special is its fresh, made-to-order Root Beer, which provides a unique taste experience that sets it apart from other fast-food chains in Singapore.

The restaurant's commitment to halal certification, combined with its classic American menu and efficient service, has made it a popular destination for families and fast-food enthusiasts seeking halal options. The Woodlands outlet operates daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, providing convenient access to quality halal American fast food in Singapore's northern region. With its modern kiosk-based ordering system and focus on maintaining good queue management, A&W has successfully adapted to contemporary fast-food trends while preserving the nostalgic appeal that made the brand beloved in the first place, making it a significant addition to Singapore's diverse halal dining landscape.

The Cream Cheese Beef Burger was delicious. The beef patty was juicy and tender, with a generous amount of cream cheese and lots of caramelised onions. My order was served in less than 5 minutes after placing it via the kiosk, which was very impressive. However, none of the staff were smiling when I interacted with them; they all seemed expressionless. A smile wouldn't cost anything when serving customers.

It's been a while since I had an A&W burger and root beer float. I am from the era when A&W was new to Singapore. The burgers and hotdogs didn't really captivate me, but their chicken pieces were the best. Back in the day, you could choose the type of pieces you wanted – drumsticks or thighs – and you didn't have to pay extra. The size of the chicken pieces would dwarf any chicken today, especially KFC. Anyway, the burger was a little small but tasted as it should. The curly fries were only warm and got cold really quickly. As for the float, hmm, it was not too bad. The quality of the ice cream could be more premium for a creamier and wholesome taste. Overall, just okay!

Ordered the beef coney dog combo and it was disappointing. The hotdog was not snappy, and the topping was cold. Even the curly fries were cold when served. Only the root beer was good.

I really wanted to like this place, but there's just nothing special here. The wait time is huge, around 40 minutes even at off-peak times. The burgers are very dry and simple. The curly fries are okay. The only good thing was the root beer float, though I don't think it was worth a visit. There are so many burger places in Singapore; this one is avoidable.

The aroma chicken here is nothing like the aroma chicken in JB. It lacks spices and the chicken is dry instead of juicy. There are two collection points, and it wasn't clearly indicated, so we had to collect the food and drinks separately. We had to keep asking the staff for chili sauce, as you can't get it yourself. Worst experience at A&W.

Good food, conveniently located on Level 1 opposite the MRT. Had the mozza burger, fried chicken, and cheeseburger. The mozza burger is awesome, with a great portion and lots of vegetables. The fried chicken is a little salty, but overall very tasty and yummy. Best part is that curly fries are served, along with a huge root beer float. The mug is just satisfying to drink from. Service is decent. At an estimated $10 per pax, it’s alright. Standards are above McDonald's, and slightly below Shake Shack. Will return.

It's been such a long time since I had A&W, and since it returned to Singapore years ago. The taste is still great, and it brings back such a nostalgic feeling for me, growing up in the 80s and 90s. The branch at Canberra Plaza is big with self-service kiosks. The serving and return of trays are at opposite sides of the branch, which I think is a very good move for hygiene. Price-wise, it's fair, and I highly recommend their chicken and beef burgers; they are definitely better than the usual M brand. P.S. Did you know A&W is actually the first American fast-food brand in Singapore, set up way back in the 60s?

They still have the best curly fries and root beer float, in my opinion. Went at 11pm with no queue. Understand from staff that daytime queues are still the norm, months after its opening. Self-collection is needed as the kitchen is on another side of the walkway. I wish there was table service like McDonald's too. Maybe in the future ...

Good to see A&W returning to the Singapore market. They're a nostalgic childhood fast food that I grew up with. The interior design is welcoming, the layout is spacious, and it's family-friendly. Staff are friendly and attentive. Love their root beer float.

Had a simple dinner at A&W Canberra Plaza. Their beef with sauce was really tasty, tender, and full of flavor. I also enjoyed their root beer, which was refreshing and not too sweet. The place was cozy and the service was good. If you're nearby, it's a nice spot for a quick and satisfying meal. I'd love to go again!
