A&W Restaurants has made a successful comeback to Singapore's fast-food scene with its halal-certified outlets, bringing the iconic American brand to Muslim diners across the island. The Woodlands Avenue 6 location, specifically at 677 Woodlands Avenue 6, represents part of A&W's strategic expansion in Singapore, operating alongside other outlets including one at Admiralty Place. The return of A&W to Singapore has been met with enthusiasm from both nostalgic customers who remember the brand from its previous incarnation and new customers discovering its classic American fast-food offerings for the first time.

The menu at A&W Singapore features the brand's classic American favorites, all prepared according to strict halal standards to cater to Singapore's Muslim population. Signature items include the famous Root Beer Float served in a frosty mug with vanilla ice cream, the Mozza Burger with two beef patties and mozzarella cheese, and the Cream Cheese Chicken Burger. The restaurant also offers crispy fried chicken, Coney Dogs, and sides like Curly Fries and Onion Rings. What makes A&W particularly special is its fresh, made-to-order Root Beer, which provides a unique taste experience that sets it apart from other fast-food chains in Singapore.

The restaurant's commitment to halal certification, combined with its classic American menu and efficient service, has made it a popular destination for families and fast-food enthusiasts seeking halal options. The Woodlands outlet operates daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, providing convenient access to quality halal American fast food in Singapore's northern region. With its modern kiosk-based ordering system and focus on maintaining good queue management, A&W has successfully adapted to contemporary fast-food trends while preserving the nostalgic appeal that made the brand beloved in the first place, making it a significant addition to Singapore's diverse halal dining landscape.

After visiting the parks, we went for lunch at this outlet around noon. It wasn't crowded on a Tuesday. First, we had to order food at the kiosk, then collect our drinks at the designated area and show the staff the receipt. However, if you're paying cash, you need to bring the receipt to the counter for payment, and then queue again to collect your drink. It seemed the outlet was short-handed as there was only one staff member at the counter handling both cashier payments and issuing drinks. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. The tables are quite small, which might feel a bit cramped for larger individuals. We waited a while for our food. I received my burger quite quickly, but my friend's fried chicken took a considerable amount of time to arrive. The root beer float was served in a large, cold mug, which kept the drink cooler! I had the Chicken Burger With Premium Cream Cheese, and it tasted quite good. The curly fries were okay, just a bit cold. The fried chicken was served piping hot, so one had to be careful while eating. Unfortunately, the chicken was quite dry, so my friend only ate half of it.

Located just outside the entrance to Bird Paradise, A&W doesn't offer the 20% F&B discount for "Friends of Wildlife" members, which is a bit of a letdown. Ordering is pretty straightforward—you pick your items at the self-service kiosk, punch in your buzzer number, and pay. However, there’s a tiny note on the receipt telling you to collect your drink separately, which I only noticed when I was pointed to another counter after getting my food. I went for the Mozza Burger & Marina Fish Sandwich Combo, which included curly fries and root beer. Unfortunately, the fries were overcooked and lost their usual springiness, and the burgers, despite being in "biodegradable" packaging, were a bit of a letdown. Even though they promote a "no straw" policy, they handed me one without asking. Plus, at the tray return area, there wasn’t any clear signage on how to deal with leftovers. The place has both indoor (air-conditioned) and outdoor seating, and surprisingly, it stays pretty empty even during lunch. While the location is convenient and the ambiance is decent, the food quality and some small service quirks made it hard to fully enjoy the meal. With a few tweaks, they could definitely live up to the A&W name we know and love.

You need to know that after order even though with food pager that drink still need to show receipt

Please note that even with the food pager, you still need to show your receipt to collect your drinks after ordering. It would be better if drink collection was combined with food collection. I had a bad experience at another outlet where the drink counter was in the center, with cashiers on the left and right. The queue was messy, and I wasn't sure which line was for the cashier and which for drinks. Someone even cut in front of me to go to the cashier queue. Food was okay. The Golden Aroma chicken was crispy, and the Coney dog was good. Regarding the chili sauce, it's inconvenient to have to ask staff for more. They should just allow customers to take the sauce themselves. There is no wash basin for hands in the outlet. You have to go outside to wash your hands before eating chicken or fries with your hands. You might need to make multiple trips to collect your order as they don't prepare everything at once. The tray return counter wasn't clearly marked. I saw other people placing their glasses on the tray return, and only then did I understand where to put them. I also had to search for the trash bin as it wasn't very clear. The ordering system is a bit slow in displaying items, and the instructions for options were not clear. Some items offered choices while others had defaults, leaving me unsure about what I had ordered for my set, even though I proceeded with the order.

A great place to have a meal and rest after exploring the bird exhibition all day. We enjoyed the nostalgic root beer, chicken, burger, and waffle. The service was efficient too; they served the drinks first while we waited for our meals. Kudos to the A&W team.

Enjoyed the food and drinks. Simple fast food. The root beer float was my favorite. Had hot dogs. Did not have the waffles this time. The onion rings were nice but expensive... $5.50 for 4 rings! The restaurant was nice and clean. Staff were friendly. Apart from the onion rings, everyone else was super.

The food is good, and the chicken is crispy – better than KFC. The place looks clean; the floor isn't sticky or oily. Service is quite fast during weekday lunch. I do wish more fries were given, as they are very addictive. True to other comments, we have to pass the receipt separately to the drinks counter to get our drinks. Personally, this isn't a huge issue.

Serves ice-cold root beer float and a reasonably sized chicken sandwich. This is one of the good A&W outlets. Seating areas are available inside and outside. The cashless machines are actually working and there are plenty of them. Located in Bird Paradise, the prices are quite reasonable.
