Godaime stands as Singapore's first halal-certified maze soba restaurant, revolutionizing the Japanese dining scene for Muslim food enthusiasts. Located at 5 Changi Business Park Central 1 in Changi City Point, this innovative eatery specializes in maze soba, a unique dry ramen style originating from Nagoya, Japan. The restaurant proudly holds halal certification, making authentic Japanese flavors accessible to the Muslim community while maintaining the traditional essence of this beloved Japanese dish.

The culinary concept behind Godaime centers on maze soba, which literally translates to "mixed noodles" - a preparation method that focuses on rich sauces and premium ingredients tossed with perfectly chewy noodles. Their signature offerings include the Aburi Chicken Maze Soba featuring char-grilled chicken pieces topped with an onsen egg, and the indulgent Chicken Cutlet Maze Soba that comes with a generous portion of crispy deep-fried chicken. Each bowl is meticulously crafted to deliver the authentic maze soba experience, with prices remaining affordable under 0, making quality Japanese cuisine accessible to all.

With two strategic locations at Changi City Point and The Centrepoint in Orchard Road, Godaime has established itself as a pioneer in halal Japanese dining in Singapore. The restaurant operates with extended hours, staying open until late night on weekends to accommodate various dining preferences. Their commitment to authenticity, combined with halal certification and reasonable pricing, has made Godaime a go-to destination for those seeking genuine Japanese flavors in a Muslim-friendly environment, successfully bridging the gap between traditional Japanese cuisine and Singapore's diverse culinary landscape.

the most horrible experience i have ever had in a japanese (halal) restaurant. needed me to check on

This was the most horrible experience I have ever had at a Japanese (halal) restaurant. I had to check on my own orders, and they repeatedly took back my plates/bowls for not putting this and that. They came back with a 'Sorry, we are new staff.' While the apology was appreciated, it's definitely not a valid reason for such service in F&B. So what if you're new? I am a paying customer, and your food is not cheap compared to even tastier Japanese (halal) food I've had before. Secondly, I ordered the beef don with spicy level 2. I received a non-spicy dish and had to ask again. The waitress simply went to the kitchen and returned with chili/sauce, which I presumed was uncooked as it looked like a paste that should have been mixed with the meat while cooking. However, even if chili is served on the side, why have levels required before order submission? I just don't understand everything going on at this outlet at Centrepoint. Visited on 24/11/24 at 11 am; I was the first customer. I felt like telling others, 'DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY FOR RUBBISH SERVICE & FOOD.' But I just didn't bother; everyone has their own opinion. My husband only received 2 pieces of chashu when we paid for 4. No add-ons were made, and no discount or refund was given despite informing them before eating. Horrible! This should be the last on the list of Japanese (Halal) restaurants in Singapore!

We went during weekend dinner time but were surprised at how empty it was. Only one other table was occupied besides ours. The staff told us the colour of the base – white, black, or red – is based on the colour of the noodles. This surprised me because the difference in Japanese mazesoba should be in their soup base (sauce), which varies in ingredients. The staff couldn't explain the difference. So, it seems their mazesoba isn't made in a closely Japanese style? I ordered the white minced chicken mazesoba and the black cutlet mazesoba. Both were served warm, not hot. There was no discernible difference in taste between the two bowls. Their chilli oil isn't spicy at all. The chicken soup had a kind of fishy smell, which wasn't pleasant, although still drinkable. It was a bit disappointing, but the portion was okay for me, and I quite liked the noodles.

Halal-certified soba/ramen joint in The Centrepoint. They offer various Japanese-style dishes. The mazesoba set comes with gyoza and a drink. The price is a bit high considering the portion; the mazesoba itself is quite small and tasted a bit bland with no lingering umami. It needs more spices, I think. The gyoza is okay, however.

The staff were busy chatting at the counter while I was looking at the menu. They only noticed me after a while, then apologized and explained the menu before showing me to a seat. I had the Aburi Chicken Maze Soba with a side and a drink. The portion was decent and the taste was not bad. The chicken pieces were reasonable, and the edamame side was nicely done, not overcooked.

As per other feedback, the food is of good standard and the taste is great. However, the waiting time for the maze soba is quite long, about 15-20 minutes. The soft shell crab maze soba comes with only one very small crab, which isn't really value for money, but the taste is pretty good. I would recommend trying the chicken or minced meat maze soba, along with the side offerings.

The mazesoba is really very nice, with a rich, umami-filled flavour. I highly recommend the aburi chicken with soba or the beef version. It's also quite affordable considering it's in the Orchard area. Service is good, and as many have pointed out, the place is very quiet, so do give it a try.

Truth be told, we are champions for all things halal, especially when it comes to food. We learned of Godaime through our daughter, who explores makan (eating) places often with her friends. She was the one who encouraged us to try Godaime. This is our second time here as a family, a Friday night tradition we cherish. Both my wife and I come from families that practice the same, and we hope our children will continue this tradition. As such, the choice of venues and menus must please everyone, with at least one option everyone can like. This is especially important for my Aspie son, who has very specific food choices. Thankfully, rice and noodles without strong flavours are a base requirement. We all know everyone has unique preferences and quirks when it comes to food, but usually, when animated chatter turns to silence, that's a good sign of a great makan place. Especially one with hearty #soulfood that hits the right spot. Godaime is definitely one of those places for us. Here’s what is published about Godaime: "Godaime’s signature is Maze Soba. Known as "mixed noodle" or "dry noodle", it is a popular Japanese noodle dish. Unlike traditional ramen, which is served in a flavourful broth, #MazeSoba consists of a mound of wheat noodles topped with various ingredients and a savoury sauce." That pretty much sums it up. However, their rice or don offerings, with the same concept, are equally delicious and good too. They also offer sides with different levels of their unique spice for those who crave a kick. Again, when eating turns to silence, it's always a good sign. Go pop over with your kakis or family. It's not exorbitantly expensive, nor is it overly luxurious or touted with clickbait appeal. It's simply a lovely, friendly restaurant. Despite the lean team, we found the service efficient, attentive, and kind. It's a comfortable, enjoyable, unhurried spot where you can have a wonderful makan session without stress. We must give a shout-out to the waiting and service staff. The first time, the lovely hijabi lady who served and handled the till maintained a little smile, even though we knew she was deftly ensuring no customers were unattended. This time, the two awesome guys who took turns tending to all customers were not only equally wonderful but also helpful. At one point, when I was stretching my hand to take a family group selfie, as we normally do, one of them stopped what he was doing, even though he was clearly busy, and simply offered to help unasked. I was not only impressed but deeply touched. What a beautiful experience and place. Go support and experience it yourself.

The restaurant, which serves halal cuisine, offers a delightful mazesoba and ramen. The set lunch menu is great value for money, including a drink and a choice of side chicken karaage or gyoza. The mazesoba is quite tasty, and we can customize the spiciness level to our liking. The chilli is actually quite good, adding a kick to the mazesoba (Level 3 is not really spicy, just nice). Similar to other establishments that sell mazesoba, we often add some vinegar and chili to enhance the flavor. Considering the value, this place is definitely worth visiting for the mazesoba.
