Meokja by JUNGGA stands as Singapore's premier Muslim-friendly Korean restaurant, helmed by Chef Jung SangWoo, a Korean-Muslim revert who opened this establishment in October 2022 at GR.iD mall in Dhoby Ghaut. Driven by his desire to make authentic Korean cuisine accessible to Muslim diners, Chef Jung partners with his wife Afrah to create genuine Korean flavors using exclusively halal ingredients.

The restaurant offers an extensive menu of Korean classics including Jja Jang Myeon (noodles in black bean sauce), JjamPpong (spicy seafood soup), Bibim Guksu (spicy mixed noodles), and their signature Samgyetang (Korean ginseng chicken soup). Street food favorites like kimbap, yangnyeom chicken, and tteokbokki featuring chewy rice cakes in gochujang sauce provide authentic Korean street food experiences starting from .90.

Operating Thursday through Tuesday from 10:30am to 3pm and 5pm to 10pm, Meokja by JUNGGA represents Chef Jung's mission to share proper halal Korean food after recognizing the lack of authentic options for Muslim diners. While not officially halal-certified, their commitment to using only halal ingredients and authentic Korean preparation methods has made them a trusted destination for Korean cuisine enthusiasts seeking Muslim-friendly dining experiences.

We reserved a table for 5 people, and everyone was happy from the moment we sat down and were served by Danish. As this was our second time dining, we tried more dishes, and Alhamdulillah, everyone loved the food. We will definitely come back again and recommend it to others.

Tried this halal Korean restaurant and the food was decent, but it didn’t quite wow me. The flavors were alright but needed a little more depth to make them taste like what you’d expect from more authentic Korean restaurants. I also found their white rice a bit too hard. The staff were friendly and the ambiance was pleasant enough. I went on a weekday afternoon and it was easy to find a seat for two. The prices were reasonable for the portion sizes too.

We had the Jjajangmyeon and Kalguksu—both were really tasty! The Jjajangmyeon here was actually better than the one we had in Korea. The Kalguksu broth had a nice peppery kick, which we really liked. The noodles of both dishes had a chewy, udon-like texture. Portions were generous, definitely worth the price. The Tangsuyuk was okay—not bad, but not a standout. Overall, we highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for authentic halal Korean food. Do make a booking in advance to secure your seats!

They had a booth at the Kampong Glam bazaar and I've visited their booth three times! Their toast is a must-order, especially the Bulgogi one. The hotteok is the most authentic I've ever tasted in Singapore. The lady boss was really friendly too; she recognizes me every time I go there and knows I'm a loyal customer! Please do support the restaurant if you're nearby, it's definitely worth the try :)

Had the Kimchi Jjigae rice set – pretty good! The broth was rich and flavourful. The Eomuk Tang (fishcake soup) was really comforting. My friend ordered the Jjamppong and it looked amazing – definitely going to try that on my next visit!

One place we love to go because it is hard to find delicious halal Korean food. Whenever we watched K-dramas, we longed for Meokja. It's a go-to place for us to satisfy our cravings and catch up over a meal.
