Swee Heng 1989 Signature represents the premium evolution of Singapore's first full-fledged halal bakery chain, building upon Swee Heng Bakery's legacy since the late 1980s to offer an elevated selection of artisanal breads, cakes, and confectionery that blend Singapore and Taiwanese flavors using the finest global ingredients. With locations including 313 Somerset and Paya Lebar Square, this signature concept maintains their commitment to halal certification while delivering premium quality baked goods that have earned devoted customer loyalty through decades of consistent excellence.
Their signature menu features innovative creations like the popular Chicken Luncheon Meat Egg Bun with soft, fluffy bread encasing savory luncheon meat and tender egg omelet, the Floss Bun with Egg Mayo combining the classic Malaysian combo with generous fillings, stretchy Mochi Chocolate Bun with milk chocolate and cookie crumble topping, and the indulgent Yam and Pumpkin Mochi Bread stuffed with generous sticky mochi and sweet fillings. Their cake selection includes fragrant Pandan Chiffon Cake, soft Steamed Rice Cakes with orange sugar dipping, fresh Peach Tart with crispy pastry, and rich Caramel Almond Cake topped with generous chopped almonds.
Operating as part of the larger Swee Heng ecosystem that includes express outlets and corporate catering services, Swee Heng 1989 Signature continues the tradition of baking with passion while embracing innovation and premium ingredients. Their strategic mall locations provide convenient access to their artisanal offerings, while their halal certification ensures Muslim families can enjoy their fusion of traditional Singaporean favorites with contemporary baking techniques that reflect the evolving tastes of Singapore's diverse food landscape.

I share the same sentiments as all the Google reviews here and agree that the staff at Swee Heng 1989 Woods Square are extremely rude and unprofessional, especially the lady with short dyed brown hair and a purple neck fan. This happened on Saturday, November 5th, at around 6 pm at the Woods Square Outlet.
All we did was choose and take bread from the shelf, and we did not even mess up the display of breads, but she said aloud and scolded my mom as she walked past us, "Aiyoh, put properly lah." Afterwards, she continued mumbling. That was very unprofessional and uncalled for. We immediately decided not to buy and put all our bread back. We bought from the outlet in Causeway Point instead, where all the staff are much more welcoming and friendly. It's no wonder the Woods Square outlet is always empty.
I feel that she has no place interacting with the public when she lacks the most basic manners. Please take action regarding the staff. Thank you.

Very rude sales assistant. I told my daughter to see what she wanted for breakfast tomorrow morning. She opened the fridge and wanted to take a small cake out. The lady walked out, closed the fridge, and said, 'If you don't buy, don't open the fridge door.' Wait, spoilt. If you don't want people to open the fridge to see your products, then don't open a store or close the door and do online business.

The store placed large fans on the floor for ventilation, but these pose a significant safety hazard. My toddler ran over and almost stuck her hands into the blades. Please consider providing feedback to the mall if ventilation is poor, or installing wall fans. Alternatively, use fan covers if floor fans are absolutely necessary. Why put customers and your store at risk? Bad publicity will not benefit your store.

Staff had poor attitude and service. We ordered one KitKat chocolate waffle for my kids around 3 pm today. There was only one customer in front of us, but the staff told my kids it would take 30 minutes. However, my kids insisted on waiting. Funnily enough, we ended up waiting less than 15 minutes. When I asked the staff to help cut the waffle for my kids, they told me they don't provide such a service and refused to give us extra wrapping paper.

This morning at the Woodsquare outlet, I saw a female staff member spit into the green waffle mix bucket at the sink area before moving it to the waffle machine. She also didn't even know how to wear her mask properly.
You all had better not buy any waffles or anything from this outlet. I have reported it for SFA health inspectors to check.
Those who have had similar experiences at this outlet should also escalate to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and Swee Heng HQ.
Why is Swee Heng like this? So disappointed.

The staff here have always been very friendly and helpful. The Chinese lady who was assisting at both the waffle station and the cashier yesterday (9/1) around 4-4:30 PM was very welcoming and pleasant. She had a cheerful disposition that made me, as a customer, feel good patronising the bakery.

If you’re looking for a more upscale twist on local bakery favourites, Swee Heng 1989 Signature at Causeway Point delivers both comfort and style. Unlike the standard Swee Heng outlets, this “1989 Signature” version offers a more modern interior and premium selection — perfect for both takeaways and casual sit-downs.
What stands out:
• Artisanal Touch: Classic buns are reimagined with better ingredients and more refined presentation. Think soft Hokkaido milk bread, mochi buns, and even charcoal or matcha-infused creations.
• Signature Items: Their mochi buns, cheese lava buns, and sweet potato buns are especially popular. They’re soft, chewy, and generously filled.
• Modern Vibes: The store has a cleaner, café-like aesthetic, with nice packaging that makes it feel more premium than regular bakery chains.
• Halal-certified: Like all Swee Heng stores, it’s halal, making it accessible to a wider range of customers.
Other positives:
• Friendly and patient staff, even during busier periods.
• Great location on a convenient mall level (typically Basement 1 or near the food court).
• New seasonal items pop up from time to time, keeping the menu fresh.
What could be improved:
• Price point: Items are a little pricier than regular Swee Heng outlets, though still affordable compared to other premium bakeries.
• Limited seating: Mostly takeaway-focused; not a café where you can sit and relax for long.
• Can sell out fast: Popular items like the cheese lava or taro mochi buns sometimes run out by evening.
⭐ Final Verdict:
A great stop for elevated local-style baked goods in a clean and stylish setting. Swee Heng 1989 Signature at Causeway Point is perfect if you want to treat yourself or pick up something nice for family. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I love the smell of fresh baked goods every time I pass by. Their original croissant and the custard-filled croissant are both excellent. I always get those.

Ordered a Valrhona Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake via Grabfood. The delivery was fast, and the cake was delicious. It had a less sweet dark chocolate flavour, perfect for my elderly father's birthday. It was a little pricey on Grabfood, but it saved on the effort and time of going there personally to buy it.

Bought the Butter Baked Rice Cake, $1 each. A 'Buy 4, Free 1' promotion was ongoing. It was lacking a bit of buttery goodness; the rice cake is dense and thick, not too sweet, but not too bad overall.
My best buy is still the waffles!
(The service staff seemed a little down, though. The rice cakes were located at the cashier. When I asked for $4 worth, she sighed really loudly.)
