Yesterday evening, I observed a food handler, a Chinese lady with short hair, refilling the waffle batter without wearing gloves. Additionally, the employee used a pair of scissors from a drawer to scrape the remaining batter from a strainer, which seemed to be an improper and unsanitary practice. Please look into this matter ASAP and take the necessary precautions to train your employees properly.

Bro, I literally ate one of the hot dog buns and it almost made me vomit. At first, I was actually suspicious because behind the hotdog, there was like a purple thing, and I just threw away the bread.

A confectionery similar to BreadTalk, but with a wider selection of staples including po lo buns, tarts, etc. It's cheaper, though the buns tend to be more oily. If BreadTalk is that classmate who keeps changing her style to stay fresh, Swee Heng is like the boring but dependable one. Try the buns they bake in aluminium foil trays.

Bought 3 petite cakes and 1 bun on 26/August/24 at 17:20. Asked for a small candle, but it seemed like a new auntie who was not very interested in serving. She kept busy talking with her colleagues and gave me a candle without a stand. When I asked for one, she made an unhappy gesture. She was quite rude, even shouting at me when I asked if she was unhappy. Swee Heng bosses, could you please tell her that if she's not happy serving customers, she shouldn't work and should stay home. Remember, on this day, 26/August/2024, at 5:20 PM, check the schedule to see which auntie was working.

It's always a joy coming here. This particular outlet has been around for a very long time, since the blocks in this area were built. The staff are always super nice, especially considering the high number of elderly folks in this neighbourhood.
Tip: If you're lucky, come after 7pm, and they'll put up clearance prices on the trays right before they close!

A dependable and convenient stop for fresh, halal-certified buns and pastries, the Swee Heng Bakery
A dependable and convenient stop for fresh, halal-certified buns and pastries, the Swee Heng Bakery at Sembawang Mart is a neighborhood staple for residents and regular shoppers. While it’s not the “1989 Signature” version, this branch offers all the classics you’d expect from Swee Heng — simple, satisfying, and great value.
What’s Good:
• Wide variety of local-style buns: From red bean, pandan, and coconut to curry, sausage, and chicken floss buns — the selection covers both sweet and savoury favorites.
• Freshness: Items are generally baked fresh and restocked throughout the day. You might even catch warm buns if you visit in the morning or early afternoon.
• Wallet-friendly: Great pricing, with most buns costing around $1.50 to $2. It’s perfect for families, students, or anyone looking for a light bite without breaking the bank.
• Halal-certified: A reliable choice for the Muslim community, just like all other Swee Heng branches.
• Convenient location: Right inside Sembawang Mart near the supermarket, making it easy to grab bread while doing your groceries.
What Could Be Better:
• Smaller selection: Compared to “1989 Classic” or “Signature” outlets, this branch sticks mostly to the basics — don’t expect premium buns or seasonal creations.
• No dine-in area: It’s a takeaway-only setup, typical of heartland bakeries.
• Peak hour queues: Can get crowded during after-school or dinner rush, so it’s best to visit earlier for the best choices.
⭐ Final Thoughts:
Swee Heng at Sembawang Mart is a classic, no-frills neighborhood bakery. It’s not about trends — it’s about good, fresh bread at honest prices. If you’re nearby and need a snack, breakfast, or something to bring home, it’s definitely worth stopping by.

Love the ondeh-ondeh cake slice! The slight bitterness from the brown centre complements the saltiness of the coconut flakes and sweetness of the pandan outermost layer seamlessly.

I like this neighborhood bakery.
The Ang Ku Kueh is only available on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar calendar, before Chu Yi and Shi Wu. I prefer peanut filling, but unfortunately, only green bean was available when I visited.
The price is very reasonable for a neighborhood bakery, especially compared to many other brands in the market.
The skin is thin, soft, and has a chewy texture, which in my opinion is the best I've had so far. For $2.30, you get 5 in a box. It was truly a worthwhile purchase and a must-have each month (I'd rather wait for these twice-a-month dates to satisfy my craving for ang ku kueh).
The Dao Sha Bia was also a favorite.
I also go for their red bean toast whenever I feel like it.
