Went for a late dinner on 17 Nov 2024. Ordered the Thai cutlet rice. Didn't expect the rice to taste that sweet; it was too sweet for my liking. The cutlet was hard, possibly due to deep frying. Luckily, I ordered the coffee c with less sugar, which somehow balanced the extra sweetness of the rice from the Thai cutlet rice. Overall, not a good dining experience.

The Mee rebus & mee Siam set with a drink for $5.50 was very nice. However, I witnessed an incident where one staff member (not food counter staff) spoke unclearly and stated that my boss doesn't allow wheelchairs. He mentioned that someone had fallen previously due to hooking onto wheelchair bars. The elderly man pushing an elderly lady in a wheelchair, along with their maid, misunderstood and thought wheelchairs were not allowed at all. He also asked repeatedly where the wheelchair was from, whether it was their own or from CGH, and made many irrelevant remarks. He should have simply stated that wheelchairs are only allowed if you take the inside seats. I am writing this because, in a hospital setting, wheelchairs are bound to be present. Therefore, it's best to train all staff to communicate such policies gently rather than harshly or roughly. If young family members were around, I'm sure it could easily escalate into a commotion. So, it's best to provide feedback. Wheelchairs are allowed only at the inside seats, away from moving traffic and the main queue. Please train him. He seems very hardworking but needs to learn soft skills.

The 1983 coffee and toast stall here inside Changi General Hospital originated from Malacca, Malaysia.
Their specialty is Nasi Lemak (Fragrant Coconut Rice).
Today's weather is cool, so I went for a 4.5 SGD soup.
The macaroni is al dente. The meat serving is hefty, with shredded chicken and slices of fish cakes. The broth is salty, almost similar to a Filipino dish called "sopas," the only ingredient lacking was evaporated milk.
The venue is very nostalgic, with marbled tables and wooden chairs reminiscent of Chinese movies I saw back in the Philippines.
Will visit again and review.

Long queue due to slow service; it could seriously be 4x faster. One staff member should always man the cashier/counter, as not everyone needs to buy dishes, just snacks or drinks. However, the two staff behind the counter were doing their own thing, and the cashier was always empty. Today was even worse, with only one person handling everything.

The MB kopitiam is currently undergoing renovation, which I believe is why there's a long queue here. I waited 20 minutes for my food. The lady at the counter informed me that some items were sold out, so I had to change my order. Food preparation is very slow, even with at least 2-3 staff members besides the counter lady. I ordered the curry chicken cutlet with rice. The food was salty and oily. I wouldn't get food from here if there were other options. The fried spring roll tasted of sesame seeds, possibly because the same pot of oil was used, which tasted really weird. It was also oily and cold. The healthy food option I ordered previously was also salty.

Visited the cafe in October 2023 while attending a medical emergency. We were happy to see that families had gained a lot of convenience, and that the service and food were good.
The mee rebus was tasty, and you could also take cakes and bread to go. The payment process is streamlined, and credit cards are accepted.

Had the fried curry chicken rice set with coffee. The price is reasonable, and the service is fast and effective. The food is alright; the rice is a bit clumpy, but it doesn't matter much as it's covered in curry sauce. The curry sauce itself is good, though nothing particularly special. The fried chicken is boneless and comes as three fillets. It's served with some 'ah char' which helps to make the dish more palatable. The coffee is kopitiam style, so your experience may vary.

The lighting is dim, which makes the place rather gloomy. This doesn't help when one has to make a trip to the hospital and needs to eat because they are hungry. Nonetheless, the service was prompt. The cashier auntie was patient. I ordered two items, and she repeated my order to ensure accuracy.
A doctor before me was upset because a colleague had allowed an elderly uncle, who was walking with a walking stick, to jump the queue. The doctor told the auntie off, stating that he did not allow the uncle to cut the queue and that she should have asked him to queue up as there were many others waiting.
The auntie managed to keep her composure and continued to serve other customers. I heard her sharing the incident with a fellow colleague, perhaps to let it off her chest. It was the hectic lunch hour, and a little understanding goes a long way. I always teach my sons that I want them to be knowledgeable to get a good job in the future so that they will grow up to serve others, not to look down on and take advantage of people. Education must have failed that doctor.

The queue here can get pretty long, but the food was decent. There were only two active staff behind the counter: a lady cashier and a Burmese man preparing the food. Both were efficient, so the wait wasn't too long. I had the mee rebus; the gravy was thick and the portion was good. Seating was plentiful during off-peak hours. The location is opposite the A&E entrance.
