Afandi Hawa & Family operates as a legendary halal food stall at 14 Haig Road, #01-21, Haig Road Market & Food Centre, Singapore 430014, carrying forward a rich culinary legacy that began at the old Paya Lebar Airport in 1967 when it was founded by Afandi Ahmad. Now run by second-generation owner Ahmad (age 33), who took over the family business in 2008, this establishment represents the continuation of traditional Malay cooking techniques and family recipes that have been refined over more than five decades. The stall's location in Haig Road Market & Food Centre, known as a destination for authentic Malay cuisine near Paya Lebar MRT station, positions it within one of Singapore's most respected traditional food environments.

The stall has earned widespread recognition for serving what many consider to be one of the best Mee Rebus in Singapore, distinguished by their unique preparation method that incorporates shrimp, flower crab, and mutton into the signature sauce. Their Mee Rebus () features yellow mee with a boiled egg, beansprouts, and tau kwa, all drenched in their viscous, umami-rich sauce and topped with spring onions, green chilli, fried shallots, lime, and coriander. Additional popular offerings include Mee Soto (), Gado-Gado (), and Begedil (/bin/bash.50), with the latter often ordered specifically to soak up the excess gravy from their renowned mee rebus.

Customer reviews consistently praise the mee rebus gravy as "viscous without being overly rich" with prominent "notes of shrimp, flower crab, and mutton" that create a sauce that is "umami and bursting with flavours" while maintaining the perfect balance of sweet and savory elements. With dishes priced around , Afandi Hawa & Family provides exceptional value while maintaining the authentic flavors that have made them a beloved institution among both locals and food enthusiasts. Their enduring success over multiple generations demonstrates the power of preserving traditional cooking methods while adapting to modern hawker center environments, making them an essential stop for anyone seeking to experience the authentic flavors of Singapore's Malay culinary heritage.

Not sure why but the stall name has been changed to Afandi & Family Mee Rebus. Still the same recipe

Not sure why, but the stall name has been changed to Afandi & Family Mee Rebus. Is it still the same recipe? After hearing so much about this stall, it was a huge disappointment eating their mee rebus today. The presentation was very rough, with the green chilli sliced in huge, haphazard chunks. There weren't enough shallots and parsley. The biggest failure, however, was that the gravy didn't taste or smell like mee rebus at all. I was expecting the fragrant aroma of ikan bilis, peanuts, and/or mutton broth with a good blend of sweet, salty, and sour from the lime. Instead, what greeted me was a bland-tasting gravy with a very strong peppery aroma.

We read that this place served very good mee rebus and gado gado, so we made a trip there specially to try the food. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed with what we had. While the mee rebus ($3.50) gravy was indeed different from the starchy ones we are used to at most stalls, the mee rebus itself had nothing but a boiled egg and a few tau geh (bean sprouts) to finish it. The gado gado ($3.50) lacked the vegetables you'd normally get, and the peanut gravy poured onto it was too sweet. There were only a few rice cake pieces, tempeh, and shredded cabbage. Rather disappointing. Our last order of mee soto ($3.50) was also nothing to shout about. The shredded chicken was a little dry, and apart from that, the sambal and bean sprouts, there was nothing else in the mee soto. The gravy tasted like any other mee soto we can get everywhere else. Definitely not something you'd want to make a special trip for.

The mee rebus flavour is good, but I'd skip the begedil as it wasn't served crispy and hot. I'd also recommend getting an option with ayam, otherwise it's mostly carbs.

Delicious boiled noodles with a decent gravy. Extra bean sprouts are available on request! The chilli was really fragrant and added a direct sweetness to the otherwise rich sauce.

Choosing between Mee Rebus and Mee Soto was a tough one, but I ended up going for both! Both dishes were delicious and had a classic, traditional taste.

Mee Rebus (SGD $3.50) @ Afandi Hawa & Family Mee Rebus. Established by Afandi Ahmad in 1967, this heritage stall is now run by the second generation. The ingredients are standard: chewy soft yellow egg noodles, crisp bean sprouts, spongy tofu puffs, bouncy hard-boiled chicken egg, and crisp green chili, resulting in a grainy, sweet, vegetal, savoury, eggy, and spicy flavour. But the star is their gravy, thick, chunky, and viscous, made with a base of mashed sweet potato, fermented soybean paste, dried shrimp, lime juice, and spices; with the addition of unique ingredients including mutton and flower crab. The result is an addictive sweet, savoury, earthy, nutty, and spicy flavour to the gravy, comforting and filling.

Located inside Haig Road Hawker Centre, along the Muslim stalls row. One of the best Mee Rebus I've tasted! The normal size plate comes with yellow noodles, a whole boiled egg, bean sprouts, chopped green chilli, condiments, and generous gravy. The gravy is very rich and consistent, with tiny to small chunks of mutton (a bonus). I think the stall also added peanut sauce/powder into the gravy. The result is very nicely cooked yellow noodles, topped with the yummy gravy. You can add extra ingredients like stomach slices, chicken, potatoes, etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful! 4 Stars for Food and Service Qualities! At $3.50 for a standard serving plate, it's very reasonable! 3 Stars for Atmosphere. Unfortunately, not much atmosphere can be created within a small-spaced stall inside a non-aircon public food centre.
