BatterCatch is Singapore's premier MUIS halal-certified British-style fish and chips restaurant chain, operated by Minor Food Singapore — the same group behind Din Tai Fung and ThaiExpress. The beach-themed casual dining concept brings authentic British chippie culture to Singapore with a modern twist, featuring light golden battered fish, chunky fries, and traditional accompaniments like mushy peas, tartar sauce, and brown sauce. Since opening its VivoCity flagship in mid-2024, BatterCatch has rapidly expanded to six outlets across Singapore, making it the go-to destination for halal fish and chips.

The menu centres on their "Ever Classic" fish and chips range, offering five fish varieties at different price points. The Barramundi Fish & Chips ($19.90) is the most popular choice — a thick-cut fillet with firm flesh that flakes cleanly under a light, crispy batter. The Haddock Fish & Chips ($18.90) delivers an authentic British taste praised by UK-based diners, while the budget-friendly Dory Fish & Chips ($13.90) and premium Halibut Fish & Chips ($22.90) cater to different budgets. Each serving comes with fries and three signature dipping sauces: tartar, brown sauce, and curry sauce, plus mushy peas and lemon.

Beyond fish and chips, BatterCatch offers "The Main Act" dishes including Pan Seared Fish Fillet, Sirloin Steak, and Fisherman's Pie. Small plates like Salted Egg Prawns and Tempura Calamari bring local-fusion appeal, while sides such as Truffle Fries, Cheesy Chicken Mac & Cheese, and Crispy Parmesan Corn Rib complement the mains. The English Milk Tea Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream and Pineapple Fritter make for satisfying desserts. A weekday set lunch from $12.90 offers excellent value.

BatterCatch currently operates six outlets: VivoCity (#01-171 to 174, tel: 6470 8205), Orchard Central (#04-30, tel: 6263 9171), Great World (#01-106, tel: 6485 3841), NEX (#B1-34/35, tel: 6470 8208), IMM (#02-17/18, tel: 6485 3845), and Bedok Mall (#B1-52). Most outlets operate from 11:00am to 10:00pm daily. Delivery is available on Foodpanda and GrabFood. With its rapid expansion across major malls, generous portions, and that distinctive brown sauce, BatterCatch has quickly become Singapore's favourite halal fish and chips destination.

A very tough one to review due to numerous factors. We didn’t eat green peas and asked for those to be changed to fries, which they did. We ended up with an additional bowl of fries each, which we thought was too generous. This was also the main reason why I contemplated giving them 4 stars instead of 3. The fries, however, were really bad. It was either over-fried or the oil was overly used – the fries turned out pretty tough and very crispy. A major letdown for how it was done, a 1-star for the fries alone. The fish was good. We opted for the haddock since dory are typically a thin slice and can be found in most hawker/food centres. It was definitely a thick chunk of fish, though our portions did vary slightly, with my wife getting a bigger portion. In any case, it was fresh and juicy, definitely one of the better ones out there. It did get jelak towards the end of the meal though, probably caused by the flour. The price point was very acceptable at just $18++ for the haddock and chips. Definitely one that’s hard to rate since the fries ruined the meal.

Food was not too bad. Here’s what we got! - Sriracha mayo cauliflower: This was really good, freshly prepared upon order so it’s hot and crisp! But the portion was a little small for sharing. - Fish and chips, halibut, brown sauce: The fish and chips were actually not bad! But I found the batter still slightly thick for me, as it got a bit 'gelat' halfway through the meal. - Truffle Mac n cheese: I could taste the light truffle in this. Recommend more for sharing! Overall, the food was not too bad but not impressive for us. However, I appreciate how everything was hot when we received the food! The service was good too; we had an odd number of 5 pax and the staff helped shift us to more spacious seating after some tables cleared.

Made a reservation for 7pm. When we arrived, there was a long queue. Fortunately, we had made a reservation and went in without having to wait. We ordered a few dishes for the four of us. I especially liked their shepherd's pie, which contained fish (salmon and another fish I didn't recognize) instead of beef. It was tasty and came with a tangy salad; I didn't expect it to be so nice. The salmon and coleslaw were delicious too. It came with mashed potato and sauce on top. No regrets in choosing this dinner spot with friends.

It's really good, both food and price-wise. We ordered the British Fish & Chips and Crab Linguine. The price is very affordable, especially considering the food portions are quite huge. The service was also really good; the staff were very friendly and quick to attend to us whenever we needed anything.

The queue to go in was a bit long, but understandable considering it was the dinner crowd on a Friday. The fish and prawns were very fresh and the flavour was good. The shepherd's pie has a good potato to meat ratio and the flavour was good enough to keep eating. Their drink creations were unique and very refreshing to drink as well. Service was good too, so an overall good dining experience.

Decent food. The halibut fish and chips were crispy outside and moist inside. The lemon squeeze in the pouch is a nice touch. The barramundi whole fish came with its main skeletal bone removed, making it easy to eat with minimal worry about bones. The clam chowder soup was flavourful. The Caesar fries were a tad salty from the minced beef and melted cheese.

Great fish and chips! I got the dory and felt it was very nicely fried. The fried cauliflower was also delicious, with perfectly done batter! The sauces are great too. Service here was really fast, and I didn't have to wait too long!
