Established in 1971, Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak has been a cornerstone of Singapore's hawker scene for over five decades, serving authentic nasi lemak from its corner store at Boon Lay Place Food Village. This muslim-owned establishment has built a legendary reputation for its simple yet iconic plates of nasi lemak, earning numerous awards and praise from locals and food critics alike. Operating daily from 6:30am to 3:30am, it stands as one of the few reliable late-night dining options in western Singapore, making it a popular supper destination for residents in the area.\n\nThe restaurant's signature offering centers around incredibly aromatic coconut rice that's freshly prepared daily with the finest coconut oil, creating a fragrant base that can be enjoyed on its own. Their generous portions include crispy golden-brown chicken wings with tender, juicy meat inside, perfectly fried eggs with oozy yolks, and their famous pungent sambal that strikes an ideal balance - decently spicy and subtly sweet without being overly sugary like many other nasi lemak stalls. Popular sets range from .50 to .50, with the Chicken Set featuring chicken wing, ikan bilis, sambal and fried egg, while additional items like begedil (/bin/bash.50), otah (.50), and sambal sotong (.50) can be added to customize your meal.\n\nBoon Lay Power Nasi Lemak has evolved beyond its humble hawker stall origins, now operating a central kitchen that maintains consistent quality across multiple outlets and even dispensing their nasi lemak through vending machines at locations like International Plaza and Heartbeat Bedok. With islandwide delivery available for orders above 0, the brand has successfully modernized while preserving its authentic flavors and affordable pricing. The constant queues during peak hours and fast ingredient turnover ensure that every dish is served hot and fresh, cementing its status as one of Singapore's best nasi lemak destinations that offers exceptional value at just .50 for a very generous portion.

It's been a long time since I last ate here, and I think the prices have increased a lot. Set 1 with an added chicken wing, eaten there (not takeaway), costs $7. There was no cucumber, even though the set picture shows one. The picture for Set 1 shows $4.50, so adding a chicken wing is $2.50. (I saw Novena branch reviews with pictures showing $1.80; perhaps the Novena branch is a franchise and not as good, hence cheaper?) I will visit the Novena branch to try it out and edit this review to be fair.
The chicken wing is my favourite, extremely addictive and delicious. Dabbing it with the sambal chilli sauce makes it heavenly. $7 is still acceptable because I added an extra chicken wing, and I will still patronize this place because it has one of the best chicken wings. I think another nice one is at Jurong West St 42.
It's open 24 hours and there's always a queue, sometimes stretching to the steps. The waiting time, depending on your position in the queue, averages 10-40 minutes.

I used to eat this monthly when I was younger, but it's not as nice anymore. Why would they use basmati for nasi lemak? It doesn't make sense.

I ordered the ayam berempah set, which is supposed to be 1/4 chicken. When I wanted to confirm it was the thigh portion, I noticed the female staff had given me the drumstick portion instead. Half the portion was missing. If I hadn't asked, she would have charged me the full price. I could see from her body language that she had no intention of informing me; otherwise, she would have done so before picking the drumstick. She did speak to some guy and then charged me less. I would have been okay if she had told me when she was picking the food. I'm fine with paying for what it's worth, but I'm not okay with dishonest vendors.

Chicken wing taste not that good outside the skin marinated
The chili is good. Rich, like a new type of change. The chicken wing's taste isn't that good; outside the skin is marinated, but inside, you can't taste much. Standard has dropped, I guess. The price also seems to have increased since I last went there. Overall, okay lah, can eat.

Queued for 30 minutes on a weekday lunch. With such a long queue, I was expecting the chicken wings to be freshly fried, but all the ingredients, including the rice, were lukewarm or cold at best. The chicken wings were crispy on the outside but dry and tasteless inside, lacking the usual spice marinade. The fish was also lacking spices. It was more pricey than expected. The food is average at best, but the service was good. I wouldn't mind eating here if there was no queue, but I won't come all the way or queue for it.

Closes at 3:30 AM, making it a good supper spot. The sambal chilli is really good. The fried chicken skin is crispy, but the meat isn't marinated, so it lacks layers of flavour. The rest of the items are okay. The price is reasonable and the service is fast.

This afternoon, May 8th, I travelled all the way from my house to try the Boon Lay nasi lemak takeaway. The owner is friendly. I bought a set that comes with egg and fillet fish for $4, which was very nice. I highly recommend it to people and hope to visit this stall again one day to support them.

A good experience trying Singapore's nasi lemak. The guy, I don't know if he's the owner or not, was really baik (good) and very friendly. The taste was okay, and it was affordable.
