Haron Satay is a legendary halal satay establishment founded by Mr. Haron Abu Bakar in 1978, operating from the iconic Stall 55 at East Coast Lagoon Food Village with additional pre-order services from Bedok North, representing nearly five decades of authentic Javanese-style satay tradition that has gained international recognition extending from Singapore to Florida and Dubai. Despite overcoming significant challenges including a devastating fire in 2013 and the passing of their founder in 2016, this family business continues to honor his legacy while serving some of Singapore's most beloved satay.
Their menu centers around expertly grilled satay featuring tender chicken, beef, and mutton options at $1 per stick, each piece marinated in traditional spices and grilled to perfection over charcoal flames, served with homemade Javanese-style peanut sauce, refreshing cucumber chunks, red onion wedges, and ketupat rice dumplings that complete the authentic experience. Additional offerings include their popular honey chicken wings available exclusively at the lagoon stall, with minimum orders of 10 sticks ensuring fresh preparation for every customer.
Operating Wednesday through Sunday from 1:30 PM to 8:30 PM at their Bedok location and during peak evening hours at East Coast Lagoon, Haron Satay requires patience during busy periods with 30-minute waits common from 6-10 PM, reflecting their popularity among locals and tourists. Their combination of online ordering through Oddle platform, phone orders at +65 6441 0495, and traditional walk-in service maintains accessibility while preserving the authentic satay experience that has made them a cornerstone of Singapore's hawker heritage and halal dining scene.

Really poor experience overall. The service was unfriendly and came across as quite rude, which already set a bad tone. After a long wait, the satay we received was disappointing – some sticks were cold, and the meat was far too sweet, almost as if sugar was used to mask the freshness of the meat. For such a long wait, the quality was unacceptable. Between the rude service, inconsistent cooking, and questionable taste, I left feeling very disappointed. Definitely not worth the time or money.

One of the worst satay experiences I’ve ever had. The service was rude and unhelpful, and after a long wait, the food turned out to be a complete letdown. Some sticks were cold, and others were burnt on the outside but undercooked inside – which made me sick afterwards. The satay itself was overly sweet, almost as if the seasoning was used to cover up meat that wasn’t fresh. For a stall with such a name, the quality and care were shockingly poor. Between the bad service, unsafe food, and disappointing taste, I would strongly recommend avoiding this stall.

I ordered satay for a party on the 5th of July and opted for delivery. My order was canceled with no explanation. I had to check their Instagram account and found out that they are closed indefinitely. Imagine my embarrassment at the no-show of food. I would rate it a zero.

Please check your satay when you eat, as we encountered raw lamb and beef. My point of view is that regardless of how tiring your workday is, as long as you serve food, it must be safe to eat.

Okay, the food is above average. It's nice, but eating too much can make you feel overly full and less inclined to eat it again soon. You might consider having it once every six months; it's not the kind of food for weekly or monthly consumption. Also, unlike other stalls, they don't accept PayNow or electronic payments, dealing only in cash. This is a significant drawback. Imagine not having cash on hand. The service can be extremely slow; expect to wait 30 minutes to an hour for your food, which is quite a long time. Overall, for the taste of the chicken, I'd give it a 7/10. Service gets a 4/10, and waiting time for food is a 2/10. In summary, they need to improve their service, waiting times, and the person taking orders. They could also be a bit friendlier.

Satay without onion is like a man lacking motivation or soul; it looks okay but isn't. I requested a bit more onion, and the staff was willing to oblige, but the Mak Cik (lady owner) stopped him and refused my request without any explanation. Onions aren't very pricey, but at least let me know if you don't have enough for other customers (though I saw a whole bag there). In short, the food is nice. I can guarantee this is the most authentic satay Melayu. We waited 20 minutes for the chicken satay and 40 minutes for the chicken wings, even though they were ordered during peak hour. However, if you want to request more sauce, onion, etc., it's quite impossible. I will be back next time to test them again. If the same thing happens, I will write the review again.

After seeing so many rave food reviews, I finally got to savour their satay. I ordered mutton satay and the wait was not that long on a Thursday evening, about 20 minutes. To be honest, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the quality of the mutton satay. The amount of meat was rather generous. The satay was crispy from the charcoal grill and tender at the same time when biting into it. It was slightly on the sweet side but not overly sweet. It was really very enjoyable.

One of the better satay stores around. The meat is well marinated and tasty to eat on its own, without the need to dip the satay sauce. Take note that each stick of satay is now $1 (October 2024), so it is on the pricey side. Recommended to try.

Thick, succulent pieces of meat, well-cooked over charcoal. The sauce is a tad sweet and not spicy enough. It could have more peanuts. Quite pricey at $1 per stick.

Great satay at East Coast Park Food Centre. Haron Satay is one of my go-to stalls for satay. I usually order their chicken and mutton satay. The mutton satay is great tasting! It's served with sliced cucumber and red onions. I also got the Ketupat (boiled rice cake), which paired well with the satay peanut sauce. They used to have babat satay (tripe), but no longer sell it. Prices are $1 for a stick of satay, with a minimum order applying. The ketupat costs $0.50.
